Town Hall:
“The media have recently been so preoccupied with a Congressman’s photograph of himself in his underwear that there has been scant attention paid to the fact that Iran continues advancing toward creating a nuclear bomb, and nobody is doing anything that is likely to stop them.”

Politico:
The U.S. has decided to formally resume contact with Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood group – which does not recognize Israel – in a move that could further alienate some Jewish voters already skeptical of President Barack Obama, it was reported.
In recent years, the Muslim Brotherhood has asserted that it renounces violence. The group is not considered a foreign terrorist organization by the United States – but organizations sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood, like Hamas, have not renounced violence against Israel.

Opinion:
This should come as no surprise. The Brotherhood was also invited to Obama’s 2009 speech in Cairo. Our Department of National Intelligence (James Clapper) characterizes the MB as a peaceful organization despite the Hamas and al-Qaeda sub-groups. The picture (above right) by Politico looks peaceful enough, but take a look at the Brotherhood’s spiritual leader Yusuf Qaradawi (below) and you will see something entirely different.

From Qaradawi’s 2003 book, Fatawa Min Ajl Falastin, or Fatwas on Palestine, “We believe that the battle between us and the Jews is coming … Such a battle is not driven by nationalistic causes; it is rather driven by religious incentives. This battle … is between Muslims and Jews… This battle will occur between the collective body of Muslims and the collective body of Jews.”

By the way, according to Bible prophecy, Qaradawi is right about the coming battle. God gave us the exact details of an Arab/Israeli war in Psalm 83.

American Thinker:
“This morning, just five days before the celebration of our nation’s independence, I was shocked into wakefulness by a news item on Fox and Friends. It seems that the Houston National Cemetery has now begun banning “God” from military funerals.

The director of the Houston VA National Cemetery, Arleen Ocasio, has ordered the burial teams to instruct that religious references, as well as prayer, are no longer to be included as part of the burial services. Requests for messages or prayers can be formally submitted for her approval, but the mention of “God” is not allowed.”

Opinion:
Outrage of the day!
I also heard this mentioned on Fox and Friends yesterday morning. I was in a hurry as I was leaving the house, and made a mental note to find out more about this. To my surprise, the story did not make my usual news sources and a quick Google search yielded nothing. At that point, I was on to the Greece stories and all but forgot about this one. My last look around late last night was American Thinker and there it was.

So now the Houston VA National Cemetery cemetery is eliminating God from funerals. Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham’s daughter) once said : “For several years now Americans in a sense have shaken their fist at God and said, ‘God, we want You out of our schools, our government, our business, we want You out of our marketplace. And God, who is a gentleman, has just quietly backed out of our national and political life, our public life. Removing His hand of blessing and protection. We need to turn to God first of all and say, God, we’re sorry we have treated You this way and we invite You now to come into our national life. We put our trust in You. We have our trust in God on our coins, we need to practice it.”

AFP LONDON — Iran has carried out secret tests of missiles capable of delivering a nuclear payload in breach of UN resolutions, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Wednesday. Hague’s comments came a day after Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards said they had fired 14 missiles in an exercise, one of them a medium-range weapon capable of striking Israel or US targets in the Gulf.

Opinion:
See our post yesterday titled ‘Iran test fires long-range missiles.’

ABC World News:
“The wildfire that surrounds the nuclear lab in Los Alamos, New Mexico, has grown to at least 61,000 acres amid mounting concerns about what might be in the smoke that’s visible from space. Such fear has prompted the Environmental Protection Agency to bring in air monitors, along with a special airplane that checks for radiation levels. So far officials have not been able to find anything. “Our facilities and nuclear material are rotected and safe,” Laboratory Director Dr. Charles McMillan told ABC News.”

IBD Op-Ed:
“What a sorry spectacle to watch Greeks rioting in the streets in reaction to austerity measures. As if tantrums can change reality. It’s Exhibit A of how socialism infantilizes citizens. The only cure is free markets. Steeped in socialism for decades, these Greeks see no connection between their economic circumstance and the expanded state that is at the root of their troubles.”

AP Associated press:
“The unpopular euro28 billion ($40 billion) five-year package of spending cuts and tax hikes was backed by a majority of the 300-member parliament Wednesday, including Socialist deputy Alexandros Athanassiadis, who had previously vowed to vote against. A conservative deputy broke ranks with her party’s line to also vote in favor, bolstering the government’s majority of five seats in the 300-member parliament. Another bill detailing measures to implement the measures goes for a vote Thursday.”

Opinion:
Considering that Greece has the smallest debt of the PIGS, this is undoubtedly a preview of coming attractions. The Greek government owes 240 billion, which is low compared to Portugal at approx 500 billion ,Spain 1.2 trillion Italy at 1.4 trillion.

Our June 18 post (link below) has Bible references regarding the dangers of out of control debt. If our nation’s leaders refuse to apply God’s principles, the US may be heading toward a Greek type scenario.
