SUNDAY POST
Are there Rewards in heaven? The Bible teaches us that after the Rapture of the church, Christians take part in the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and the Bema Seat judgment of Christians for their works done on earth. Crowns are awarded!
Both Romans 14:10 and 2 Corinthians 5:9 speak of the “judgment seat where all saved Christians will stand before Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”
The word, Bema, was taken from the ancient Greek Isthmian games where the contestants would compete for the prize under the careful scrutiny of judges who would make sure that every rule of the contest was obeyed, 2 Timothy 2:5. The victor of a given event who participated according to the rules was led by the judge to the platform called the Bema. There the laurel wreath was placed on his head as a symbol of victory 1 Corinthians 9:24-25.
The Greek word translated “crown” is stephanos (the source for the name Stephen the martyr) and means “a badge of royalty, a prize in the public games or a symbol of honor generally.” Click on the blue headline ‘Five Crowns’ above for a description of each.
