ACLJ:
Radical Islamic movements throughout the world have long been funded and armed by Iran, which the United States has consistently described as “the most active state sponsor of terrorism.” Iranian government officials are not only publicly supporting the protests in Egypt; the Islamic Republic is taking credit for them. “The Revolution of the people of Tunisia and Egypt is modeled after Iran’s Islamic Revolution,” said Iranian Brigadier General Yahya Rahim-Safavi.

Definition of Appeasement:
Used by European democracies in the 1930s who wished to avoid war with the dictatorships of Germany and Italy, bearing in mind the horrors of the First World War. The term is most often applied to the foreign policy of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain towards Nazi Germany between 1937 and 1939.

The word “appeasement” has been used as a synonym for weakness and even cowardice since the 1930s, and it is still used in that sense to denounce policies and behaviors that conflict with firm, often armed, action in international relations.

Opinion:
Sanctions are another word for appeasement. Iran moves at will throughout the world. Just this week Iran is threatening to move their warships near the US coast. The Iranians laugh at sanctions while threatning to ‘wipe Israel off the map’ and denying that the Holocaust ever happened. The west continues to appease Iran by suggesting they don’t really mean it. In the case of stopping Hitler, it was almost too late. If Hitler had the use of nuclear technology is there any doubt that he would have used it?

Iran is an eerie reminder of Hitler and his aggression in so many ways. By most estimates, Iran is approximately 1 year away from a nuclear warhead. Is there any doubt that they will use it? They already have the capability to deliver them against our forces in the ME while scud missiles with  nuclear devices launched from freighters are an ever growing threat. In our September 10 post ‘The next 9/11- A Nuclear One?’ The IBD editorial said ”Iran has long practiced launching Scuds from ships in the Caspian Sea and detonating them in midflight. It has also tested high-altitude explosions of its Shahab-3 ballistic missile, a test consistent with an EMP attack.”

Two important questions are: Why is the US appeasing Iran while it moves at will in the ME? And, is the US government foreign policy so politically correct that pandering to radical nations and terror groups has become the basis for our foreign policy? Our ally Israel needs an answer.

WSJ Article:
SAN’A, Yemen—Al Qaeda figure Anwar al-Awlaki, one of the most wanted terrorists on a U.S. target list, has been killed in Yemen in what was likely a drone strike, marking another significant blow to the global terrorist group after the assassination of Osama bin Laden earlier this year.

IBD Op-Ed:
“Last month, Pew Research Center released a survey of U.S. Muslims that was almost universally overlooked. It found that Muslims overwhelmingly approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president. Fully three-quarters (76%) favor him, compared with just 46% of the general public. President Bush, in contrast, garnered a lowly 15% approval rating among Muslim-Americans. ‘Muslim-Americans clearly see a friend in Obama,’ Pew said in its report.”

 YNet News:
“The European Parliament also reiterated its endorsement of the 1967 borders as a basis for negotiations, stressing that “no changes to the pre-1967 borders, including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties should be accepted.” The parliamentarians urged Israel’s government to halt settlement construction.”

Opinion:
Where to begin? The 1967 borders are not a basis for negotiations that provide ANY security for Israel. We have to keep repeating this because it will be forgotten. The two-state solution was turned down by the Palestinians in 1947.

The Arabs were told to leave Palestine because the nations of Jordan, Egypt, and Syria were going to attack Israel and kill all the Jews and any remaining Arabs might be killed by mistake. So the Arabs left. The attack came and the Arab nations were soundly defeated by the power of Almighty God. So now Abbas wants a do over! And EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton says it is legitimate.

It is not anyone’s land to divide (Joel 3:1-2). The land of Israel is God’s land. The Jews were given that land by God (Genesis 17:7-8) forever. There will be judgment on the nations which divide the land. Whether the EU’s Ashton likes it or not, God has determined that His name will be there forever, and “My eyes and My heart will be there (Jerusalem) perpetually.”

I’m guessing He gets His way on this.

News Max:
“The outcry increased Wednesday after 34-year-old Yosef Nadarkhani refused to recant his Christian faith in an Iranian court for the third and final time. “I am resolute in my faith and Christianity and have no wish to recant,” he insisted.

Nadarkhani was arrested in October 2009 for apostasy because he objected to the teaching of Islam to Christian children at Iranian schools. He was accused of apostasy and of evangelizing Muslims. He was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging a year ago, a verdict he appealed to Iran’s Supreme Court.”

Opinion:
It seems so far away. It couldn’t happen here. This sort of religious persecution just happens over there… doesn’t it?

Martin Niemöller (1892-1984) was an ardent nationalist and prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last 7 years of Nazi rule in concentration camps. Niemoller is best known for the following quote:

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out — Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out — Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out — Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.”

Yosef Nadarkhani is every Christian and we speak for him.

JPost:
Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki said that the Palestinians have received approval from eight members of the UN Security Council in support of their bid for full membership to the United Nations.

If nine members of the Security Council vote in favor of the Palestinian state bid, then the resolution will pass, unless one of the council’s five permanent members uses a veto. While the US, one of those five, has said before that it would veto the Palestinian resolution, it has also stated that it would rather not be forced to use the veto.

Opinion:
We think it is likely that the US will follow through with its threat to veto the resolution as the 2012 election draws near. If President Obama is re-elected, all bets are off. Russia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil and Lebanon, which have already stated their support for the Palestinians, Nigeria and Gabon are also expected to vote in favor of the bid.
