Haaretz:
RIYADH – A Saudi royal offered a $900,000 reward to anyone who captures an Israeli soldier, on Saturday. Prince Khaled bin Talal, the brother of business tycoon and Fox News co-owner Walid bin Talal, told the Saudi-based broadcaster Al Daleel that the captive would then be released in exchange for Arabs held in Israeli prisons.
Let’s sort this out:
1. Saudi Prince Waleed bin Talal (handsome fellow above), one of the biggest shareholders of Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News Corp. Waleed bin Talal is known as the Warren Buffett of Saudi Arabia with a net worth of 19 billion.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Heads of State offering kidnapping ransom for a soldier of another sovereign state, and there is no out-cry of condemnation from the UN or the US? Try to imagine a US head of state offering a ransom for kidnapping a Muslim soldier to be used as a bargaining chip. Go ahead, try!
This is why negotiating with terrorists is a dangerous idea. I admit I was relieved and happy for the release of Gilad Shalit, but the lopsided deal of 1,027 Hamas terrorists for 1 IDF soldier was just too tempting for the peace-loving Saudi’s to pass up.
Saudi Arabia has an appointment with Bible prophecy in the last days. Ezekiel 38:13 speaks of Sheba and Dedan, both ancient cities are located in modern day Saudi Arabia. The Saudis of prophecy are a greatly diminished nation, aligned with Britain and the US as spectator nations as the war of Gog and Magog commences. See our post on the war of Gog and Magog here: http://bibleprophecytracker.blogspot.com/2011/07/sunday-post-nukes-iran-now-saudi-arabia.html
The Telegraph:
Unesco, The United Nations’ cultural agency, has decided to give the Palestinians full membership of the body, in a vote that will boost their bid for recognition as a state at the UN. Huge cheers went up in Unesco after delegates voted to approve the membership Monday. One shouted “Long Live Palestine!” in French.
Israel said that the vote will harm prospects for the resumption of Middle East peace talks.
Tebow Scores One for Christianity

American Thinker:
“Rather than giving you a play-by-play of the game, let’s say that for 95% of the game, Tebow’s performance was unimpressive. (Sunday Oct. 23), Miami was beating Denver 15 to zero. Then, with 2 minutes left in the game, Tebow brought his team back to tie the score. Tebow’s team won the game in overtime. Wow! When interviewed after the game about his amazing comeback and win, Tebow said the last thing I am sure the liberal media wanted to hear: “First, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
How Do You Get to 7 Billion People?
Wall Street Journal:
“The world’s population will hit seven billion on Oct. 31. Or maybe not until next year. Or maybe it’s already happened. No one knows for sure. But that hasn’t stopped the United Nations from picking the last day of the month as the symbolic date, christening it as 7 Billion Day. The U.N. plans to mark the milestone with great fanfare, and has invited the people of the world to help celebrate by sharing seven billion stories on a U.N. website.”
Opinion:
October 31! All Hallows Eve?
It is fitting that Halloween is the day that the godless UN would choose to celebrate the 7 billionth human birth. The ancient, superstitious Celts believed that on the night (Oct. 31) before their new year (Nov. 1), the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. They believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth, and the presence of these spirits made it easier for the Druids (Celtic priests) to make predictions about the future.
Maybe the UN should just stick to its favorite pastime: bashing Israel.
That said, many are wondering if the 7 billionth person will trigger the Rapture. We would rather let the Lord handle such matters. Date-setting, as well as number-setting, in prophecy are great tools of the enemy to make the prophetic word look foolish, and create more ‘scoffers’. 2 Peter 3:3-4 says, “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ He promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”
Yet, numbers do have special significance in the Bible. The Rapture of the Church is a number-specific event, but probably not in regards to population size. Jack Kelly, of www.gracethrufaith.com, was asked if the Rapture would happen on a Jewish Feast. He wrote, ”I’m convinced that the Rapture is a number specific event rather than a date specific one, meaning the Church will be raptured when “the full number of gentiles has come in” (Romans 11:25).”

Our Sunday Post was contributed by our friend and Bible Study leader, Tina.
This study on John, Chapter 3, focuses on the personal relationship with God that one can only experience after the ‘new birth’ in Christ.
When we begin to discover that it is possible to have intimate closeness with God, it astonishes us. Yet, it’s more than possible: it’s available, attainable, and imperishable.
But, after all, isn’t that what our Creator had planned from the beginning?
Washington Times:
“This week, Jerusalem Post military correspondent Yakov Katz wrote that, with the Schalit chapter behind it, “Israel can now move forward to deal with some of the other strategic problems it faces in the region, such as Iran’s nuclear program.” Had Israel first attacked Iran, Hamas‘ patron, it would have endangered the Schalit deal, Mr. Katz said.”
