FROM A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW, ABORTION IS MURDER.

From a biblical worldview, abortion is murder. Scripture teaches we’re fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14), known by God before we’re born (Jeremiah 1:5), and made in His image (Genesis 1:27). Taking the life of someone made in God’s image (right from conception) is murder, and it is serious in God’s sight (Genesis 9:6; Proverbs 6:16–17). The Lord who welcomed the little children (Matthew 19:14) and said we must become like them to enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3) does not look lightly on the slaughter of millions of those little ones.

As Christians, we must stand boldly against abortion (as well as embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, and other so-called “advances” in our society that take a human life), and we must teach our children to do the same. We must lovingly extend the gospel and practical hope to abortion-minded women who are often feeling coerced, hopeless, and scared. We have the answer they need—the life-giving gospel of Jesus Christ that offers hope for now and eternity. We are thankful for the many Christians and Christian groups ministering to these women and literally saving the lives of their children.

And we must extend the hope of the gospel to post-abortive women. Many are hurting, haunted by their decision to murder their child. They need the gospel! They need to hear that the sinless Christ died on the cross taking their sin—including the sin of abortion—upon Himself (1 Peter 2:24). He then rose from the grave, conquering sin and death. He offers forgiveness and freedom from sin to all who will repent and trust in Him (Romans 10:9). Acts 3:19 says, “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.” Also, Hebrews 8:12 declares: “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”

THE GRACE OF GOD IS GREATER THAN ALL OUR SIN.

Yes, abortion—murder—is a grave sin, with severe consequences that God takes very seriously. But the grace of God is greater than all our sin. What a Savior! The message we have for post-abortive women is one of hope—you don’t have to be condemned by God’s just wrath (John 3:36; Romans 8:1)! He poured out His wrath on His son (Romans 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:10) so that we could receive forgiveness as a free gift (Ephesians 2:8–9).
