As the world keeps silent in light of Syria massacre, Israel must act

YNet News: A week after International Holocaust Day, an annihilation enterprise was exposed just a few kilometers away from the State of Israel, and the world is silent again. Let’s not delude ourselves. It happened, it is happening and it will happen again. All the “never again” talk is revealed as false declarations. Who cares?

The world has been silent for decades. It has been keeping silent since the Holocaust. The world was silent in Biafra. The world was silent in Rwanda. The world was silent and is silent in light of the genocide in Darfur. The world is silent in light of the fact that every year, in the past few years, global jihad murders about 25,000 people on average.

It’s not the same thing. Because this time, near Damascus, it’s the closest thing to a death camp. It’s not a suicide bomber. It’s not a fanatic ideology. It’s not religious insanity. It’s not a war in which civilians are hurt too. This time it’s an annihilation enterprise operated by a secular government. ” more

Opinion: If I had to name one Obama foreign policy decision that unleashed more death and destruction in the Middle East more than any other, the 2013 red line in Syria would get the prize.

Obama/Kerry threatened to act if chemical weapons were used in Syria. After proof appeared that they were, the pair backed off with a lame agreement that Russia would remove the weapons. It took only a few months before the weapons were used again.

The world looks the other way in times of genocide as Bashar Assad knows full well: Nazi Germany, Darfur, Rwanda, come to mind.

Bashar Assad operated a slaughterhouse near his border with Israel. A report from Amnesty International, issued on Tuesday, said that 20-50 people were hanged each week, sometimes twice a week, at the Saydnaya prison in what the organization called a “calculated campaign of extrajudicial execution.”

The report covers the period from the start of the March 2011 uprising to December 2015, when Amnesty says between 5,000 and 13,000 people were hanged.

But Bashar Assad’s most intense hatred is not the terror groups that are ravaging his country, but the Jewish state next door. The Syrian dictator has threatened to rain down rockets on Tel Aviv on numerous occasions.

If even one of his chemical weapons were fired into Israel, a 2700 year old prophecy might be fulfilled:

Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap.” Isaiah 17:1

Then behold, at eventide, trouble! And before the morning, he is no more. This is the portion of those who plunder us, And the lot of those who rob us.” Isaiah 17:14.
