Catholic Herald: Pope Francis has reportedly said that Europe “must become a federal community or it will no longer count for anything in the world”.

His comments were apparently made in an interview with Eugenio Scalfari, the 93-year-old La Repubblica journalist who does not record interviews or take notes.

Scalfari writes that he told Pope Francis that Europe must become a federal state if it is to deal with the ongoing migrant crisis, to which the Pope responded, “True, I have repeatedly raised this.” more …

Opinion: First things first:

European federalism is a political movement which seeks to pool the exercise of Member States’ sovereignty as a basis for the foundation of supranational authorities.

Let’s see, where have we heard that a supranational authority would be in control of Europe?

Daniel 9:26 ” …And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary …”

Rome destroyed the city and sanctuary in AD 70, the prince who is to come is Antichrist. The Apostle John identifies him as the the beast:

“Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.” Revelation 13:2

And the beast receives power from Satan and has a partner that bears an interesting resemblance to clergy:

“Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.  And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.” Rev: 13:11-12

Revelation 17:1-6 we find very near the end of the great tribulation, the apostate church still existing which holds significant political influence with “the kings of the earth.”

“Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

I saw that the woman was drunk (with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.”

The Woman is called mystery Babylon because she’s not in Babylon. But the Babylonian religion is literally the mother of all the cults and mythologies that have been set up in opposition to the Gospel.

There is only one church in all of history that holds tremendous political power, meddles in the affairs of nations, and considers itself the mother of all churches.

How curious that Francis is finding common ground with ancient foes: Eastern Orthodox, the Church of England, and Lutheran and Methodist churches.

The final church of Laodicea (Rev. 3:14-22), in view.
