JPost: These are questions that Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean and director of global social action agenda for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, asked this week, after the congresswoman retweeted a New York Times op-ed by Eric V. Copage, which claimed that “Jesus, born in Bethlehem, was most likely a Palestinian man with dark skin.”
“The claim that Jesus was a Palestinian is so bizarre that the question becomes what one gains by making that allegation,” Cooper told The Jerusalem Post. “For people who have no theological or historical rooting, the idea that Jesus was a Palestinian creates a new narrative for Palestinian history, which otherwise does not date back very far.
If one can say that Jesus was Palestinian 2,000 years ago, then that means the Jews are occupying Palestinian land.” more …
Opinion: Who are the Arabs, who are the Jews, and what was Jesus’ lineage?
Back to Genesis:
“but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
The marriage of Israelites to pagan (Gentile) tribes was forbidden. In Genesis 24:1-4 Abraham modeled keeping the Israelite bloodline pure when he sent his trusted servant to find a wife for Isaac from the family line. Marriage with cousins was not yet forbidden.
Esau was so distraught over the squandered birthright that he left his ancestral home and moved southwest to what is today southern Jordan, called Mt. Seir (Petra).
“Now this is the genealogy of Esau, who is Edom. Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan.” Genesis 36:1
2000 years later Moses warns the Israelites:
When the Israelites were about to enter the promised land, Moses warmed the people that when the Lord hands the Canaanite tribes to the Israelites …
“You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them. 3 Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son. 4 For they will turn your sons away from following Me, to serve other gods; so the anger of the Lord will be aroused against you and destroy you suddenly” Deuteronomy 7:3-4:
… which happened, even the patriarch Moses took a Cushite (North Africa) wife named Zipporah (Numbers 12:1-2)
In the truest sense, all Arabs have Jewish roots through Abraham by mixed (Jewish/Gentile) marriages:
• Ishmael, illegitimate son of Abraham and Sarah’s Egyptian servant Hagar
• Esau, Isaac’s son, who married outside the family line
Unbeknownst to Ilhan Omar, Jesus was from the lineage of Abraham, thru Jacob and Judah (Genesis 49:10), as confirmed in Matthew 1:1-17, and was born 2000 years before anyone was called Palestinian.
None of the descendants of the Arab tribes were called Palestinian until Yasser Arafat named them in 1967. The trouble for over 4000 years is over the rightful owners of the land of Israel and the city of Jerusalem.
- It will be the cause of major wars (Psalm 83; Ezekiel 38 -39; Daniel 11:40-45)
- There will be nothing left of the enemies of Jacob (Obadiah 1:18) and only Jesus can put an end to it (Isaiah 63:1-3)
