Israel Hayom: It has now been seven years since the start of the upheaval in the Arab world that was heralded as the “Arab Spring.” In mid-December 2010, riots erupted in Tunisia, spreading to Egypt and onward to engulf the Arab world.
They preceded what we now recognize in retrospect is an Arab winter. These seven years have not just been long, difficult years in which hundreds of thousands of people were slaughtered and millions became refugees.
They also reflect the blindness that has afflicted much of the Western elite in regard to our region. more …
Opinion: It was near the end of January 2011 that one of my sons suggested to me that I should start a blog to combine my study of prophecy with current events. I remember asking him “what is a blog?”
My son had noticed that ex-Wall Street types spent a lot of time looking at current events and he thought that I could combine my intense news consumption with my absorption of the word of God. Voilà!
What I didn’t know then was that 3 days after I started Prophecy Tracker, the Arab Spring would break out and the 20 or so readers we had, started to grow. A few weeks later I sent my blog to Jack Kinsella, of Omega Letter Fellowship where I was a member, and to my surprise he posted it on the front page with a link right under Bible Prophecy 101. All of a sudden we had a few hundred daily readers, and the rest as they say is history.
This blog to me is a Bible ‘practice’ in much the same way a medical intern practices medicine. It causes me to search the Scriptures daily to try to get an understanding of where we are on the Bible’s timeline, keeping in mind Jesus’ words to the Pharisees:
“and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.” Matthew 16:3
The world is greatly loaded with scoffers over the last days (2 Peter 3:3-4), most of whom have never searched the Scriptures.
Our gracious God inspired men to write down all that we are seeing today. For many, prophecy provides what my friend Vason’s late father, Lee, called, empirical evidence of God in Scripture.
