All kinds of trees for food will grow up on both banks of the stream. Their leaves will not wither nor their fruit fail; they will yield new fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the Temple. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.” Ezekiel 47:12
Breaking Israel News: Scientists in Israel have succeeded in growing a date palm from 2,000-year-old seeds. The date palm accompanied the Jews when they left Egypt and, according to the prophecy, will reappear in the Messianic era to be watered by rivers flowing from the Temple, giving them special healing qualities that researchers are already seeing appear.
Hundreds of seeds of Phoenix dactylifera were collected between 1963 and 1991 from Judean desert archaeological sites such as, a palace-fortress built by King Herod and caves located in southern Israel at Masada, Qumran, Wadi Makukh, and Wadi Kelt, in the Judean desert between the Judean Hills and the Dead Sea. Sarah Sallon, director of the Louis L. Borick Natural Medicine Research Center in Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, led a team that included Elaine Solowey, and Nathalie Chabrillange.
They selected 34 seeds they thought were the most viable. One was separated out as a control. The remaining 33 were carefully soaked in water and fertilizer to encourage germination. After this process, one seed was found to be damaged and was subsequently discarded. The remaining 32 seeds were planted in a quarantined site at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies in Kibbutz Ketura in southern Israel.
Of these, six of the seeds successfully sprouted. They were given the names Jonah, Uriel, Boaz, Judith, Hannah, and Adam. Read More …
Opinion: On our trip to Israel last May, we saw the beginnings of the fulfillment of prophecy. We left Galilee and drove through the Jordan Valley by bus to the Dead Sea. In between, we went through miles and miles of brown desert with an occasional goat herder and a few goats when all of a sudden, we looked out the window to see this amazing sight:
The date palms went for miles, then more miles of desert, then more date groves, and more desert. Today Israel’s drip technology makes the desert bloom. When Christ rules in the Kingdom Age, He will bring about dramatic changes to the land and the dry areas will become fertile bringing another prophecy into view:
“The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, The excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, The excellency of our God.” Isaiah 35:1-2
