BIN: Unlike immigration to other countries, olim to Israel are welcomed as long-lost brothers, educated and housed at great public expense. A combination of coronavirus and anti-Semitism is creating conditions expected to bring millions of Jews home. But the Israeli government, already stretched to the limit, is concerned they may not be able to fulfill the prophecy in the proper manner.
The Knesset’s Immigration, Absorption, and Diaspora Affairs Committee met last Wednesday to discuss a major dilemma: Jewish immigration is expected to double next year but budgetary constraints will make it difficult, if not impossible to absorb them into Israeli society.
Earlier this month, Jewish Agency Chairman Isaac Herzog reported to the committee that an estimated 250,000 people, mostly young people, will immigrate to Israel within the next three to five years. Read More …
Opinion: First dispersion from the land:
In 586 BC, King Nebuchadnezzar invaded Babylon, destroyed Solomon’s temple and marched the Jews to Babylon. Jeremiah and Isaiah prophesied with pinpoint accuracy the regathering to Jerusalem.
“I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.” Jeremiah 29:14
Judah had disobeyed God’s command to let the land rest every 7th year, even promising a triple harvest on the 6th year (Leviticus 25:21). Jeremiah prophesied the return from captivity in Babylon to Jerusalem precisely after 70 years (Jeremiah 25:11).
It is interesting to note that over 150 years in advance, Isaiah 44:28 foretold the birth of Cyrus and what this king would do.
Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd,
And he shall perform all My pleasure,
Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,”
And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”
Second dispersion from the land:
The Jews would be exiled a second time in 70 AD after the destruction of the 2nd temple:
“And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” Jesus in Matthew 24:2.
And regathered a second time as prophesied by Isaiah 11:11
It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time
To recover the remnant of His people who are left…”
The final regathering:
In the great (future) war of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38-39), God Himself will intervene and cause a great earthquake. In the confusion the enemy alliance will turn on each other (Ezekiel 38:18-21) giving Israel another miraculous victory.
It is that victory that will cause the Jews to return to covenant relationship…
“From that day forward the people of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God” Ezekiel 39:22.
And return home for the final time…
“then they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them captive any longer.” Ezekiel 39:28
