Sputnik News: Scientists say they are alarmed by the rise of drug-resistant genes in humans that could soon return us to the days when simple injuries or straightforward infections posed a real threat to life.
Biomedical scientists at a recent meeting of the American Society for Microbiology revealed that bacteria containing an mcr-1 gene which confers resistance to colistin — the “antibiotic of last resort” — has become disturbingly widespread over the 1.5 years since its discovery.
In many parts of the world doctors have turned to colistin because patients were no longer responding to any other antimicrobial agent. Now, with more people carrying mcr-1, resistance to its use is spreading across the globe. more …
Opinion: The Book of Revelation can be divided into three sections:
Part One: Revelation 1:1-19 – “write the things you have seen” The description of Jesus in Heaven, who is seated on His throne at the Father’s right hand.
Part Two: Revelation 2-3 – The “things that are” the 7 Churches that existed in John’s time and, when taken in order, chronicle the Church Age from the beginning to the rapture.
Part Three: Revelation 4 -22 – “Things that will be after this” Apocalyptic fulfillment of chapters 4-22.
The Tribulation begins in Chapter 6:1-8 with 4 Horsemen:
- White horse – False christ – Antichrist
- Red horse – War
- Black horse – Economic collapse
- Pale horse – Death, disease and famine
The footprints of the first three horsemen representing a coming global leader, resulting chaos (war) and economic collapse (debt) are fairly easy to see in headlines each day, but the Pale Horse has received very little attention since the Ebola scare of 2014.
Perhaps that is because of how frightening pandemics have been throughout recorded history. The pale horse is easy to look away from like a mass murder or deadly car crash.
The truth is that no one needs to witness any of the wrath of a holy and just God, since He provided a way out. In Revelation 3:10, John is told that one church will find an open door. The true church of Jesus Christ will be taken out of the fire (Romans 5:9; 1 Thess 1:10, 1 Thess. 5:9) to meet Christ in the air, 2 Thess. 4:16-18.
So what must one do to be a part of that church? The answer has not changed since Paul and Silas (Acts 16:25-34) were asked that question by a Philippian jailer over 2000 years ago:
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved you and your household”
When I read this, I couldn’t help thinking about you, Author. I know you have been on a six week course of antibiotics. Maybe it is almost over? I hope you are doing well. I have been praying for you – and your family. Mom was in the hospital – again. She qualified for hospice, so they took her back at assisted living. She has bounced back, so we will see. She went off hospice once before, but that was years ago. Time will tell. She (as are we all) is in God’s hands. Wish it were easier to leave her there. God Bless you and yours.
Thank you Shelly, the 6 week antibiotic regimen will be over on Monday. God has blessed us in so many ways during this time. My wife learned to be an IV nurse in less than 1 hour as a hurricane Irma approached and we decided to ride out the storm at home. I sometimes try to imagine what this experience would have been like had we not come to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. I feel sadness for people with life threatening illness that do not know Him. As for what comes next I know that God knows the cause, and the outcome, and as you said we will leave it in His hands. We will pray blessing on you and your Mom. As you know we recently lost Editor’s Mom and we know how difficult passing can be.
