Arabs tell Abbas: accept Trump peace plan or risk losing out

The Times of Israel: A number of Arab countries have advised Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to accept whatever US President Donald Trump proposes in the context of his long-awaited Middle East peace plan, according to a Thursday report.

The report in the the privately-owned Egyptian newspaper Al Shorouk cited an Arab diplomat in Cairo, who warned that the Palestinians may in the future “regret” not having accepted what they consider today to be too little.

The Egyptian stance came in response to unconfirmed reports in some Arab media outlets that claimed that Trump’s peace plan includes transferring parts of Sinai to the future Palestinian state. more …

Opinion: Bingo! Palestinians in the Sinai – back to the future.

It is important to note that the Trump peace plan has not been announced. It is not unusual, however, for bits and pieces of major treaties to be leaked prior to the announcement to take some of the shock value out of the equation.

Psalm 83:6-7 lists two of the armies that will attack Israel in the last days:

  • Edom who Genesis 36:1 identifies as Esau
  • Amalek, who Genesis 36:12 identifies as Esau’s illegitimate grandson

If we follow the movement of the descendants of these two men from their birth in Abraham’s own family, we find them in the Exodus, as Amalek slaughtered the weakest  Israelites, being the first to draw blood in what was the first Biblically recorded terror attack (Exodus 17:8).

We find them in 586 BC helping the Babylonians destroy the first temple:

“For violence against your brother Jacob,
Shame shall cover you (Edom),
And you shall be cut off forever.
In the day that you stood on the other side—
In the day that strangers carried captive his forces,
When foreigners entered his gates
And cast lots for Jerusalem—
Even you were as one of them.” Obadiah 1:10-11

Obadiah then issues three indictments:

  • 12: “You should not have gazed on the day of your brother in the day of his captivity”
  • 13: “You should not have entered the gate of My people in the day of their calamity”
  • 14: “You should not have stood at the crossroads to cut off those among them who escaped”o

Verse 15 is judgment: “As you have done, it shall be done to you …” and in verse 18: “And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau.”

Two hundred later, we find them in the bloodline of Haman the Agagite (Esther 3:1), and 200 years later in Antiochus Epiphanes, who committed the first abomination of desolation. And 200 years after that, we find them in Herod the Idumean, at the time of Christ.

God told us He will have war with Amalek in each generation (Exodus 17:16).

With news from North Korea of possible nuclear disarmament, Donald Trump is going to be a force to be reckoned with when he announces his Middle East peace plan, as evidenced by the headline above.

It will be important to keep a checklist of what we know.

We know from Daniel 9:26 that the man (Antichrist) will come from the same people who destroyed the city (Jerusalem) and Sanctuary (2nd temple) – Roman Empire.

We know from Daniel 9:27 the peace will be for 7 years and will be confirmed, meaning a treaty like the 7-year Oslo accords might be re-drafted.

We also know from Daniel 9:27 that after the treaty is signed the 7 year tribulation will begin and the man of sin revealed.
