A Dual Covenant ✡ “Hashem gave to Yisrael the whole country”

Hashem gave to Yisrael the whole country which He had sworn to their fathers that He would assign to them; they took possession of it and settled in it.
Joshua 21:41 (The Israel Bible™)

Hashem gave to Yisrael the whole country

Hashem fulfills His promise to the People of Israel, who live in and possess the Land of Israel. The Ramban notes that there are three aspects to the Jewish People’s obligation regarding Eretz Yisrael: They are commanded to live in Eretz Yisrael, to build up the land through strengthening its Jewish community, and to maintain a sovereign government ruling over Eretz Yisrael. Thus, though it’s important for individuals to live in the Land of Israel, it’s also critically important that the Nation of Israel has “taken possession of it and settled in it,” as this verse describes. (Ramban –  Nachmanides a  medieval Jewish scholar)

Opinion: Genesis 15:8: “In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates”

God made Israel’s boundaries. And God will reset those same boundaries after the enemies of God’s people are done away with.

Three wars:

  • Psalm 83:1-8 deals with Israel’s immediate neighbors
  • Ezekiel 38:1-6 deals with the patrons of Israel’s immediate neighbors
  • Daniel 11:40-45 deals with the final dictator who draws in the whole world to try to destroy Israel’s people

Within those boundaries will be a temple where Jesus Christ will rule and reign for 1000 years (Revelation 20:1-4). God’s covenant people will then fulfill the blessing of Jerusalem  given to Jacob.

May God give you heaven’s dew
    and earth’s richness—
an abundance of grain and new wine.
May nations serve you
and peoples bow down to you.
Be lord over your brothers,
and may the sons of your mother bow down to you.
May those who curse you be cursed
and those who bless you be blessed.” Genesis 27:28-29 NIV

There can be no church (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) there and no Edom (Obadiah 1:18; Isaiah 63:1-3). One will be in the New Jerusalem above and the other will killed by the sword.

“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God.” Revelation 3:12

“And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse …”  Revelation 19:19-21.

Time to choose.
