Ecuador 6.7 Earthquake followed by 6.8 Aftershock

Telesur: Ecuadoreans in Quito flocked to the streets after a second 6.7 quake rattled the whole city before midday. This was the second in nine hours.

Ecuador was hit by a two powerful 6.7-6.8 aftershocks in about nine hours causing fear among the population, rattling buildings and structures. There are no reports of damage nor was tsunami alert issued.

The first quake was 6.8 magnitude and was registered this Wednesday at 2:57 a.m. local time, striking the northern coast, near Rosa Zarate and Muisne, where most of the destruction was recorded after last month’s major quake. No tsunami alert was issued.
