SUNDAY STUDY: “for all the earth is Mine”

“…if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.” Exodus 19:5

For three days the whole nation of Israel went through purification rituals to prepare to meet the LORD at the base of Mount Sinai.

“… there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain… Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire… and the mountain quaked greatly.” Exodus 19:16-18

Israel’s relationship with God is not the same as the Church’s relationship with God.

Israel had the Divine Presence, the covenants, the sacrifices and had to obey in faith. They looked to the future for the promised Messiah.

The Church has Jesus Christ, His life, death, and resurrection, His teachings, and we have to accept the gift of faith that our Lord died in our place to satisfy God’s justice for sin. We look to the past for the promised Messiah.
