Opinion: Occupation by whom? Obviously the progressive left Secretary General of the United Nations is referring to Israel’s occupation of the land that God gave to Abraham as an everlasting and permanent home.
The Land was given to bless the whole world Genesis 12:1-3:
“Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
In two verses God repeated “after you” three times, Genesis 17:7-8:
“And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”
God established His gift to the descendants of Isaac and Jacob, not Ishmael, Genesis 17:20
“And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.”
And not Esau, Obadiah 1:10:
“For violence against your brother Jacob, Shame shall cover you, And you shall be cut off forever.”
The violence (Hebrew chamas, pronounced Hamas) continues unabated after 4000 years.
