Trump: ‘Israel in big trouble without Saudi Arabia’

Breitbart: “If you look at Israel, Israel would be in big trouble without Saudi Arabia. So what does that mean? Is Israel going to leave? Do you want Israel to leave? We have a very strong ally in Saudi Arabia. We have an ally that says that it did not commit – at the top level, the Crown Prince , the King – this atrocity.”

“The fact is they’ve been a very strong ally. They create tremendous wealth and a tremendous amount of jobs in their purchases. They keep the oil prices down – if you want to see a global depression, raise the oil prices by $50 a barrel.”

Saudi Arabia “is a very important ally, and if we go by a certain standard, we won’t be able to be allies with almost any country.” more

Opinion: If the Khashoggi killing sounds like a minor event, keep in mind that World War I started over the assassination of the Arch Duke Ferdinand of Austria.

In my opinion piece from October 19 (here), I said this: “Somehow I’m guessing this (Khashoggi) affair is swept under the rug, what with billions of Saudi dollars flowing into the US economy via weapons purchases and (oil) investments. And then there is that peace deal …”

Now I’m not so sure: The CIA says they have an audio tape proving that Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) ordered the hit on Kashoggi, which, if verified, could put Mr. Trump in a difficult position since he has repeatedly avoided laying blame for the Oct. 2 killing.

  • The Saudi’s appear to be forcing down oil prices with production cuts to make President Trump happy and possibly distract from the ordered hit
  • Saudi King Salman says disparaging MBS is a red line (whatever that means)
  • MBS and the Gulf states are essential in making the deal of the century happen which at the moment looks tenuous at best

In the meantime, the progressive left is apoplectic over the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, suggesting the US sever relations, cancel all defense contracts, and throw away any hope of bringing Iran to its knees economically. Just get Donald Trump for something … anything!

Jamal Khashoggi was not a Washington Post employee, but a part-time contributor to its op-ed page. He was not an American citizen, and has known ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, patron of al Qaeda, Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

No matter how you cut it, the US should not get involved in how Muslim nations treat, or mistreat, their citizens, as evidenced by their treatment of gay men:

The Saudis, however, whether President Trump, MBS and King Salman know it or not, will one day take up arms against Israel. Psalm 83:6 says the Ishmaelites who claim to be descendants of Abraham’s son born out of lack of trust in God, will join a group of nations to attack Israel in the last days.

The Psalmist from 1000 BC didn’t say what the cause would be, but he did give us a  rallying cry that could still make a reverent headline today:

Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more” Psalm 83:4.

  1. Amazing how overly concerned some people in this country are about what Saudi Arabia does.
Did anyone know who Khashoggi was before he was killed?
I agree that any excuse to attack the president will do for these people.
Not too long ago we shut down the normal broadcast tv to watch 2 or 3 days of Ms. Ford giving testimony about something that may have happened 35 years ago, just to poke a finger in the eye of the president’s nominee. Of course it was all done to influence the election which seemed to almost work.
Anyway, where is Ms. Ford now? I don’t hear any calls for investigations now.
I wonder what they might think that there is to gain by sanctioning Saudi?

Well heck, give it another day and there will be something alse for them to complain about and Mr. Khashoggi will fade away into history.
