Israel works to ramp up gas exports in light of energy demand in Europe

All Israel News: Israel is working to significantly increase its natural gas exports in the near future, in collaboration with the governments of Egypt, Greece and Cyprus. While Israel currently exports natural gas to Jordan and Egypt, planned projects would allow for the exportation of gas to Europe and Asia.

According to Israeli news site “Globes,” a source said that the current increased demand for energy in Europe is an opportunity Israel intends to take advantage of: “This has to happen as soon as possible, otherwise we will miss the opportunity and the delays so far have already created global skepticism about us.”

One government official told “Globes” that accelerating the development of Israel’s gas exportation capability is crucial: “The aim is that within three years, the scale of exports to Europe would increase many times over and, with it, the tax royalties and levies for the state. We are talking about many billions that may be lost without direction from above, removing obstacles, high-level regional cooperation between leaders and accelerated development.”

Projects under discussion include pipelines connecting Cyprus, Israel and Egypt, as well as the construction of two liquefaction facilities—one in Cyprus, and one floating off of Israel’s coastline. Rather than moving forward with the construction of the proposed EastMed pipeline to Europe, the current plan is for Israeli gas exports to be delivered via tankers.

Yossi Abu, the CEO of Israeli energy company, New-Med Energy, said the immediate goal is to build a floating liquefaction facility. Read More …

Opinion: If at first you don’t succeed  …

February 2020, Donald Trump approved the EastMed Pipeline that would have supplied Europe with natural gas from the eastern Mediterranean and a boon to the Israeli economy.

February 2022, Joe Biden Kills the EastMed Pipeline saying the project was antithetical to its “climate goals” while avoiding saying because Donald Trump approved it and Israel (not Palestinians) would benefit from it.

I’m no oil expert but it sounds like Yossi Abu’s floating liquefaction facility just might be better for everyone concerned, with the exception of course of Russia, whose economy is heavily dependent on the sale of oil and gas.

  • Russia’s oil and gas industry accounted for around 18 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) between July and September 2022.
  • Russia relies heavily on revenues from oil and natural gas, which in 2021 made up 45% of Russia’s federal budget.

“The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords.” Ezekiel 38:1-4 NIV

Could the hooks in the Russian jaw mean economic necessity?

I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land” Ezekiel 38:12 NIV

Since the Jewish state declared statehood on May14, 1948, Israel has become the most developed and advanced country in Western Asia, possessing the highest average wealth per adult in the Middle East and the 17th largest foreign-exchange reserves in the world. In recent years Israel has had the highest growth rate in the Western world.

Is the Gog Magog war eminent?

Not yet. Another war, possibly Psalm 83, will come first that will cause Israel to be in a false sense of peace:

“After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety.” Ezekiel 38:8 NIV
