No, North Korea’s Nuclear Threat Isn’t Fake News

Investors Business Daily Op-Ed: The threat of a North Korean nuclear weapon that could reach the U.S. is real, a new report suggests. Those who think this is just Trumpian saber-rattling haven’t been paying attention for the last 65 years.

Kim Jong-un’s military scientists have figured out how to produce a small enough nuclear warhead to fit on long-distance missiles, such as the ones North Korea has recently tested. Kim will soon have the means for nuclear blackmail of the U.S., Japan and, of course, South Korea. Indeed, he is already threatening Guam with missile attacks, prompting the U.S. Air Force to deploy two B-1B bombers from Guam in a joint exercise with South Korea and Japan.

So, no, it’s no idle threat.

Opinion: The last three presidents bungled North Korea. All three used a tool from the progressive left playbook: cash – no stick.

Clinton, Bush and Obama lavished the country with economic aid while Kim Jong Un’s father, Kim Jong-il accepted billions in US tax payer money and continued building nuclear weapons without missing a beat.

I kept scratching my head as to what Kim Jong-un expects to accomplish with his threats until I remembered that when a dictator gives up his nuclear program, his days are numbered.

On December 21, 2003, Col. Muammar Gaddafi’s surrendered Libya’s illegal nuclear weapons to much praise from then President George W. Bush.

Mr. Bush described it as a “wise and responsible choice” while a statement issued by the Libyan foreign ministry said that the country had agreed “of its own free will” to destroy its unconventional weapons.

While most ME analysts attributed Gaddafi’s sudden change of heart to fear of becoming the next Saddam Hussein …

On October 20, 1011 Gaddafi met a most undignified demise being dragged through the streets of Libya.

Kim Jong-un may be young but he is not stupid.

  1. For decades America has been doing one of the things they do best … fund terrorism. And that includes financing countries like North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia and a long list of others. Even even Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood has been on the American tax payer’s payroll. Maybe it is time for countries such as China and Russia to step in and put a stop to it.
