JOL: Gas pipelines that serve the Palestinians were damaged by rioters during Friday’s protests along the Gaza border. Dozens of Palestinians arrived at the Palestinian side of the Kerem Shalom crossing Friday afternoon, destroying the fence and setting fire to a gas pipeline that passes from the Palestinian side to the Israeli side. In response, the IDF fired at the main rioters in order to ensure that no one would cross into Israeli territory.
The pipelines carry gas from Israel to the Gaza Strip and cost about ten million NIS each. The IDF said that this was the second time in recent days that Palestinians had destroyed resources intended to assist them, including humanitarian equipment from various countries around the world. more ...
Opinion: In 2005, the Gaza disengagement plan put in place by then Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and George W. Bush, forced 8000 Jewish families from their homes and turned the land over to Arabs who claimed to be Palestinians in exchange for peace.
There was no peace as rockets began to fly into Israel the same day.
In a throwback to Gaza’s destruction of vital natural gas lines, the Palestinians of 2005 destroyed greenhouses which had provided Jewish Gaza residents a vibrant economy for over 57 years.
The progressive left has been trying to support the Arab side ever since arguing that the Jews dismantled own greenhouses:
AP News October 5, 2005 “Palestinians looted dozens of greenhouses on Tuesday, walking off with irrigation hoses, water pumps and plastic sheeting in a blow to fledgling efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.”
Fast forward to 2014, following the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers by Hamas members, the terror group lobbed thousands of missiles into Israel intending to kill Israeli civilians.
The IDF put a stop to it in what became known as Operation Protective Edge, as Barack Obama employed his usual ‘moral equivalence’ calling for restraint on both sides.
In that conflict, Hamas officials used schools and hospitals as rocket launching sites in order to cause the deaths of women and children as collateral damage – for sympathy from the left. In a veiled confession that came two weeks after the end of the war, a senior Hamas official said the group’s fighters had no choice but to use residential areas from which to launch missiles into their neighbor’s territory.
The progressive left of the US, UN and EU bought the lie: hook line and sinker.
And so it goes. A made-up people group destroys the means for survival for hapless civilians, on purpose, and the left blames Israel.
Rinse, repeat.
