Sadly we are also above average in attracting evil people who hate what we stand for. This murderer, like all anti-Semites, resents the ideas that we carry in this world. Concern for the downtrodden? Who’s more downtrodden than a refugee?
The archetype for all anti-Semites is Amalek. His cowardly specialty was picking off the old, weak and infirm stragglers at the back of the Exodus pack. Opinion: Amalek is from time immemorial. The first threat to kill Jacob, whom God renamed Israel (Genesis 35:10), took place 3500 years ago after Amalek’s grandfather Esau, also known as Edom (Genesis 36:1), sold his birthright to the promised land (Genesis 25:29-34).
“So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.” Genesis 27:41
1400 BC: Amalek attacked the Israelites after the Red Sea crossing (Exodus 17:8) to prevent them from going to the promised land.
586 BC: Esau’s descendants helped the Babylonian army destroy the first temple, slaughter Jewish people, and even turn in those that escaped (Obadiah 1:12-14) in an attempt to utterly destroy them.
400 BC: A descendant of Amalek named Haman the Agagite plotted to kill all the Jews of Persia, modern-day Iran (Esther 3:5-6).
Time of Jesus: An Idumean king named Herod the great, a descendant of Isaac and Esau, ordered all male children age 2 and under be killed to prevent the Messiah’s first advent (Matthew 2:16).
700 years later, after Muhammad’s new religion was rejected by the Jews of the Arabian Peninsula, he lamented on his death bed that there were still Jews alive.
In the 20th-21st century, Esau’s descendants in the West Bank and Gaza are trying to kill all the Jews of Israel. Ayatollah Khamenei, a possible descendant of Haman of Persia, is promising to wipe Israel off the map.

If Satan can eliminate the Jews by whatever means, and with whomever he can use, and turn Jerusalem over to Esau’s descendants, he can try to prevent the return of Jesus Christ (Zechariah 14:4).
- We know from Bible prophecy that Edom’s descendants will be defeated (Isaiah 63:1-3)
- We know that upon Jesus’ return a remnant of Jews will be saved (Zechariah 12:10)
- We know that Jesus will bring 1000 years of peace to Israel (Revelation 20:1-6)
- We know that Jacob’s blessing (Genesis 27:28-29) will be fulfilled
