YNet News: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday afternoon to mark 25 years since the renewal of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
After the meeting, the two leaders spoke at a press conference to reflect on the relations between Israel and Russia. “The conversations with the prime minister were constructive,” said President Putin.
“We had a discussion on bilateral relations and about international problems. Netanyahu is visiting here to mark 25 years since the renewal of diplomatic relations between Russia and Israel and our relations are deeper.”
Opinion: Like a page out of Exodus: instead of Pharaoh – Mikhail Gorbachev, instead of 10 plagues – God assigned Reagan, Thatcher and Pope John Paul II to bankrupt the Soviet Union.
It was December 1991, when 979,000 Jews made Aliyah to Israel. 325,000 headed for the United States and 219,000 migrated to Germany.
And it was not out of any fondness for the Jew but for the survival of what was left of a dying Russia. Vladimir Putin calls the collapse of the Soviet Union the greatest tragedy of the 20th century.
Putin knows that the Obama/Netanyahu relationship is impossibly broken and he knows that Israel is sitting on enough gas and oil that threatens to take customers from Russia’s Gazprom, a government majority owned company.
Putin is exerting influence all over the Middle East and North Africa (Egypt) as Obama has made it clear that he wants the United Sates to focus on Asia along with his long sought after Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP).
So while the west is bankrupting coal companies, and trying to do away with fossil fuels, Putin is working hard to get control of the Middle East’s vast oil and gas reserves.
When that fails, either he, or another Russian Czar will lead an attack force (Ezekiel 38:1-6) on the mountains of Israel to take what he will never have.
Putin is no friend of Israel.
