Today — in his first official speech as ambassador — Brownback openly embraced a hardline Islamic cleric who authorized a fatwa in 2004 justifying the killing of Americans in Iraq, and another fatwa in 2012 calling for the destruction of the state of Israel.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Bayyah’s past is no mystery to the State Department. For example, the Obama administration’s State Department had to repeatedly apologize in May 2014 for promoting Bin Bayyah as a moderate. However, the Obama administration then implemented a full-court press with the U.S. media and the D.C. foreign policy “Smart Set” to rehabilitate the image of the Mauritanian cleric.
The presence of multiple senior Trump State Department officials at an “interfaith” event in Washington, D.C. in support of Bin Bayyah’s efforts appears to confirm there will be no change. more …
Opinion: Abdullah Bin Bayyah is vice president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, a group founded by Egyptian cleric Yusuf Qaradawi (a Muslim Brotherhood leader banned in Egypt for 30 years until Barack Obama engineered the Arab Spring in February 2011).
On February 17, 2011 Qaradawi delivered (here) his first Friday prayer sermon in Egypt where he strongly denounced Israel: “The people [of Gaza] do not deserve to be killed, what did they do to be killed? Israel is the liar that has been lying all through history,” added Qaradawi.
Abdullah Bin Bayyah, like his mentor Qaradawi, has called for the death of Jews and Americans and was once the welcome guest to the White House where he met with Obama’s Senior Director for Development and Democracy Gayle Smith and other members of the National Security Council staff.
That an anti-Semite/anti-American like Bin Bayyah is still welcomed to the US State Department confirms that Obama operatives are deeply embedded in government despite the fact that Bin Bayyah’s views on Israel are directly contrary to those of President Trump.
It took eight years for Obama/Clinton/Kerry to staff the State Dept full of Islamic apologists, and it doesn’t appear that much has changed even with a once socially conservative Catholic Republican like Sam Brownback as the ambassador for religious liberty.
The day after being nominated as ambassador for international religious freedom, Brownback quoted Mother Teresa saying she loved all religions – but was in love with her own:
“The concept being that religion is a search for God, it’s where most people live their inner lives in faith,” Brownback said at a news conference. “I love that. I’m in love with my own.”
Perhaps the senator should read Romans 1:16 …
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek“
… without the gospel, their ‘inner faith’ is lost.
