In Psalm 139:23-24 David prayed for God to examine him, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.”
What better way to start the new year than in prayer and an inward search into our spiritual life in Christ?
The Bible encourages us to examine ourselves to see if we are truly “in the faith” (2 Corinthians 13:5). Thankfully, God has given us ample instruction for how we can know for sure that we have eternal life.
There ought to be a consistent trend that characterizes our lives as we grow in grace: your life is bearing the fruit of true salvation.
