SUNDAY STUDY: Overcoming A Habitual Sin

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Gal. 5:1

“The sin which so easily entangles us.” Hebrews 12:1

Were it not for grace…

Our human nature, even the nature of believers, is entangled in sin. It happens so
easily. And, there are certain sins which more easily entangle each of us than other ones.
We have certain propensities for specific kinds of sins. It may be because we practiced habits of sin before our salvation, which have continued after our salvation.

Do you worry whether or not you’re actually saved because you keep doing this sin over and over and over. You try not to do it, really try, but no matter how hard you try, you just can’t shake this bad habit. A born-again Christian may not have victory over his sins, but he fights those sins mightily until the day he dies. Why? Because a truly born-again Christian finds his faults and his sins appalling.

In the sanctification process, Jesus will transform us. We will have victory over certain bad habits in this life.
