A conflict has been waging for millennia.
It began with Satan’s fateful rebellion against God, which ushered sin into the universe and triggered a series of negative events that continues to impact human history to this day. Satan is the root cause of the turmoil that afflicts humanity. But his demise is coming. We see it unfold in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28. He will never recover from it; his doom is sealed.
Until then, however, Satan blinds the minds of those who do not believe (2 Cor. 4:4 NIV). Most people don’t understand what is going on in the world. As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit to give us insight from God’s Word to make sense of the confusion and chaos that permeate our universe.
Israel’s history has been especially turbulent. We can see that, since the inception of the modern State of Israel, Satan has been turning up the heat.
Why does the world always have its eyes on Jerusalem and the Jewish state? Because Jerusalem is the only place where God has placed His name: “I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there” (2 Chr. 6:6). God has reserved and will preserve Israel for Himself. Satan knows it is where Jesus ascended to heaven and where He will return. Though he is working feverishly to prevent Christ from coming back, he is utterly powerless to stop Him.
Understanding God’s plan for the ages brings hope and comfort in the midst of turmoil. When the apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians regarding the Rapture of the church, he told them, “Comfort one another with these words” (1 Th. 4:18). Prophetic truth brings balance to the Christian life and teaches us not to be anxious over temporal events. God is always on the throne, and His plan for the ages is right on track. Satan cannot thwart it. In fact, Satan’s destruction is part of it!
Today, many professing Christians see Israel as a thorn in the world’s side. Support for the Jewish people has plummeted in just a few years. It is an ominous sign that sound Bible teaching regarding Israel’s purpose in God’s plan is not being taught.
Many Christians fail to understand that the political alliances being formed today in the Middle East are consistent with Bible prophecy. So what on Earth is God doing? He is glorifying Himself and showing that He is the sovereign God of the universe by bringing to pass everything He has declared.
The future is bright when you can see God’s light on world events. (Ps. 119:105)
The best is yet to come!
