The Bible remains a ‘powerful, transformative tool’ in American culture

Washington Times: The Bible remains a fixture in American culture and lifestyle according to the “State of the Bible” report, an annual poll conducted by the Barna Group, a California-based research organization, and the American Bible Society.

“The results show that, despite shifting cultural trends, Americans still read the Word, and it remains a powerful, transformative tool in their life. These and other snapshots are included in our list of top seven findings from this year’s State of the Bible report,” the survey said.

Overall, half of Americans are “Bible users” — they read it, pray with it or consider biblical content through online or recorded forms. The survey found that Bible use has remained relatively consistent since 2011.

“Two-thirds of Americans express at least some curiosity to know more about what the Bible says. A similar number of adults (63 percent) are interested in knowing more about who Jesus Christ is,” the survey said. “Just over half of adults who used the Bible in the past week (53 percent) say they give a lot of thought to how it might apply to their lives.”

Similar numbers say that reading the Bible boosts their own spiritual growth,  as well as their inclination to “show more loving behaviors to others.’ more …

Opinion: With approx. 70% of Americans self-identifying as Christian, the United States has the largest Christian population in the world, followed by Brazil and Mexico.

Connecting the dots:

Imagine the shock when in the blink of an eye a large percentage Christians disappear as prophesied in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. If half of the 70% are trusting Jesus Christ as Savior, that would mean almost 115 million from the US will be gone, shaking the continent to its core and ending economic global dominance.

Further imagine, with Christianity waning in the EU (here) and Islam being the fastest growing religion, how one man with all the answers could capture the hearts and minds of the continent.

Why the EU? Because Bible prophecy tells us that when the final dictator takes the world stage, he will come from the empire that destroyed the Jewish temple:

“… And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary …” Daniel 9:26.

(The ancient Roman empire under General Titus destroyed the city (Jerusalem) and the sanctuary (temple) in AD 70)

That this man will be able to convince the Arab population that a Jewish temple in Jerusalem will be good for Islam points to him having an Arab ancestry. That he will convince the somewhat skeptical Jew that his intentions are genuine even allowing animal sacrifice to resume, indicates he will have Jewish blood as well.

The final Amalek (Exodus 17:16) will show his murderous intentions exactly 42 months later (Daniel 9:27) when he stands in that temple and declares himself god, and the Jews flee to the mountains (Matthew 24:15-16).
