The Great Hurricane Absence

American Thinker: You will see story after story in the news about how hurricanes are stronger and more frequent. They will tell you that Harvey and Irma are the worst-ever storms and are unprecedented. They will scare up the looming threat of “Global Warming” as if it were a proven fact. They will say that Al Gore predicted this a decade ago in his movie An Inconvenient Truth (2006).

Do not be fooled. That is all a lie. While Harvey and Irma were devastating, they were far from “the worst”. Global Warming has proven to be a myth. Al Gore was dead wrong then and now. What Gore predicted was the exact opposite of what happened. Hurricanes are right now less frequent and milder on average than they were when Vice President Al Gore made that movie.

The data on hurricanes is widely and freely available. So, there is no excuse for the panic-mongering regarding this subject. more …

Opinion: At first I blamed the intense hurricane coverage of the last few months on the 24/7 news cycle, figuring news stations live and die on ratings. But then it occurred to me, what if there is something more involved?

A few weeks ago an old friend called who lives in the Northeast. I should add that my friend is a liberal progressive. He asked if we were all ok after Irma, and proceeded to recite the Al Gore talking points verbatim: more frequent and stronger storms, etc.

When I mentioned that Texas had a hurricane long before they were given names that was far worse than Harvey or Irma, there was a long silence. The Galveston Hurricane of 1900 killed 8000. I further mentioned that Editor and I survived dozens of hurricanes including a far worse storm in 1992 named Andrew, and that before this year, Florida had virtually no hurricanes since 2005.

The take away is that my stats meant nothing to my friend and did not change his mind one bit.

Global warming, or its politically correct evil twin climate change, is a religion to most of the civilized world, and it is embedded in the left as deeply as salvation through faith in Jesus Christ is to Editor and me.

It was/is also the battle cry of Barack Obama and the liberal progressives of the UN and EU, and there is no amount of data to the contrary that will change their thinking.

It is also a useful plank in a globalist platform to bring the world’s only super power into economic submission paving the way for the rise of the European Union or Revived Roman empire of Daniel 7:23-24.

Want to drive a progressive crazy? Mention that we live in a fallen world with wars, storms, and human suffering, but God gave us assurance that He’s got this one too: “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease”, Genesis 8:22.
