‘The separation barrier will be finished’

Arutz Sheva: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu surveyed the separation barrier today near Meitar, ahead of planned building for the security barrier in that area.

Addressing future work on the security barrier, Netanyahu said, “We established that we will close breaches [in the security fence]. We will prevent illegal residents and attackers from reaching the cities of Israel. It’s complicated, we need to guard the villages, and we of course need to deal with the whole chain of illegal activity, including employers and those that supply lodging and transport for illegals.”

“I think it’s clear that this project will be finished. It’s important for the security of the citizens of Israel and for the State of Israel.”

Opinion: Funny how much sense a security fence makes to leaders who have a sincere desire to keep terrorists out and citizens safe.

The rise of Donald Trump to the Republican nomination can be attributed to just that.

But what is equally fascinating is that some day, possibly soon, Israel will be removing the same security fences that they are building today.

“On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan:  You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates” Ezekiel 38:10.

Ezekiel is addressing Gog, a prince of Russia who devises an evil plan to attack Israel. Israel will be living in a false peace, but to really understand why, we need to back up a few verses.

After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely – all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— to take plunder and to take booty …”. Ezekiel 38:11-12

In the latter years (just prior to the tribulation), Israel will be attacked. Her people will have been gathered from the nations after a long desolation (1868 years). Israel will be brought back from the sword (Hebrew – war) and living in a false peace. The Gog Magog alliance is after plunder (great wealth).

But what war could be so decisive that Israel would take down the walls that are providing protection?

A victory in a future war, as described by a temple priest 3000 years ago in Psalm 83:1-8, could provide that much confidence.

Asaph individually named each member of an alliance that includes virtually all of Israel’s very hostile Arab neighbors today. And their battle cry sounds like one of today’s headlines:

Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

“For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You:  The tents of Edom (West Bank) and the Ishmaelites (Saudi Arabia); Moab (central Jodan) and the Hagrites (Egypt); Gebal (northern Lebanon), Ammon (northern Jordan), and Amalek (southern Israel); Philistia (Gaza) with the inhabitants of Tyre (southern Lebanon); Assyria (Syria and northern Iraq) also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot”.

Yeah, that could do it.
