Debkafile: US President Donald Trump unveiled a new US strategy for Iran, while outlining the Islamic Republic’s 38-year record of violence since its 1979 coup. He listed the massacres of Americans its proxies perpetrated in Beirut in the 1980s, support for such terrorist groups as Al Qaeda (after 9/ll) and Hizballah and fomenting vicious civil wars in Yemen and Syria that destabilized the Middle East.
Trump then listed some of the measures he had approved:
- Action to counter Iran’s destabilizing operations in the Mid-East and outside …
- New sanctions to block financial revenue which serves to fund its nuclear and
ballistic missile programs …
- The United States will prevent Iran from conducting ballistic missile tests …
- Iran would not be allowed to continue its threat to international navigation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba …
- Tougher sanctions for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) …
- International inspections of Iran’s compliance would be tightened … more …
Opinion: The president is systematically trying to undue the damage done by Barack Obama and his chief Iranian-born adviser Valerie Jarrett.
The IRGC is the tip of the spear of global terrorism. Beginning in 1989, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei introduced a new dimension to the IRGC’s operational capacity by creating the Quds (Jerusalem) force, which is in charge of its overseas operations and has worked closely with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.
While we applaud the move by the president, the move to defang the snake is too late: Iran is loaded with billions in Obamacash and has built up its proxies Hezbollah and Hamas with sophisticated weapons for one reason: to strike Israel with a death blow.
We have been warning about a second Israeli/Hezbollah war for months. On Thursday, Iran’s defense minister Brig. General Amir Hatami said designating the IRGC a terror organization would be perceived as an attack on Iran as a whole:
“IRGC, the [Iranian] Army and the country’s other forces stand united and integrated in the face of the US government’s hostile and provocative policies and measures. We will not allow Washington to endanger the region’s security by spreading proxy wars and terrorism. The IRGC is the most powerful anti-terror organization and is at the forefront of fighting terrorism.”
Take a wild guess who the #1 state sponsor of terror is blaming for Trump’s move:
“It is blatantly clear that the Zionist lobbying is behind such hostile measures by the US, which will ultimately hurt the people and army of the US itself,” Hatami was quoted as saying.
Iran has the enemy, motive, two well armed militias and the excuse for war.
Now we wait to see if we are on the cusp of the Psalm 83:1-8 war being mindful that for the prophecy to be fulfilled each army must be present.
