(Mona Juul, President of the Security Council for the month of January 2022 and Permanent Representative of Norway to the United Nations”
JNS: She helped lead the backchannel effort to get Israeli and Palestine Liberation Organization leaders in the same room to hash out an interim agreement that was to serve as a basis for peace. Nearly 30 years later, the Oslo Accords are seen alternately as historic or tragic, with plenty of blame—or credit, depending on one’s perspective—to go around for the agreement’s failure to lead to a durable political settlement.
But Mona Juul, now . And she’s using her pulpit this month as president of the U.N. Security Council to focus in on the conflict.
“We think from the Norwegian side, absolutely that the situation on the ground between the Israelis and the Palestinians, 30 years after the Madrid Conference, merits increased focus on the need for the Israelis and the Palestinians to get back into the negotiating table,” she told JNS in a discussion at the Norwegian Mission to the United Nations. Juul was referring to the 1991 bilateral Israeli-Palestinian negotiations in Madrid that eventually led to the exchange of letters and the subsequent, secretive Oslo Accords discussions that Juul facilitated, together with her diplomat husband, Terje Rød-Larsen. Opinion: First, the Madrid peace Conference (October 31, 1991):
Excerpt: Antichrist: The Search for Amalek, page 144:
As President George H. W. Bush was opening the
Madrid Conference to consider “land for peace”
and Israel’s Middle East role, the “perfect storm”
developed in the North Atlantic, creating the largest
waves ever recorded in that region.
The storm traveled 1000 miles from “east to west”
instead of the normal “west to east” pattern and
crashed into the New England Coast. Thirty-five
foot waves pounded Kennebunkport, Maine and
destroyed the summer home of the Bush family
In Genesis 12:3, God warned the nations that there would be
blessings for those who blessed Israel and there would be curses
for those who cursed her.
Second, the ‘two state solution’ has been in exitance since 1922
JORDAN HAS BEEN THE TWO STATE SOLUTION FOR 100 YEARS
Timeline (page 128-129)
1919: World War I ended, the Ottoman Empire collapsed, and the
Middle East was to be divided up.
1922: League of Nations awarded Britain mandates over
Transjordan, Palestine, and Iraq.
League of Nations awarded France mandates over Syria and
Lebanon.
Britain awarded the entire land of Palestine to Israel with
no territorial restrictions.
Israel was granted both sides of the Jordan River, totaling
43,075 square miles. A few months later, Britain, under pressure, altered the Balfour Declaration and took back 32,460 square miles, or 78 percent of the original land grant.
That land was then given to establish Transjordan (modern-day Jordan) for the Arab peoples, leaving approximately 9,500 square miles for Israel.
Third: YASSER ARAFAT AND MAHMOUD ABBAS THWARTED THE TWO STATE SOLUTION
- Yasser Arafat had his deputy and literal partner in crime, Mahmoud Abbas, sign the Oslo I document in 1993
- The PLO was obligated to remove the clauses which call for the destruction of Israel
- The PLO never removed the clauses
- Since the Palestinian Authority (est. 1994) did not sign the Oslo Accords, it is not bound by them
- Mahmoud Abbas, Arafat’s deputy, became the head of the PA in 2004-5
- Ending the conflict, including 3 Intifadas and tens of thousands of deaths/terror attacks, would have meant that Abbas would have to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist
Fourth: Israel is God’s land (Joel 3:1–2) and that it was not to be divided.
““For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I will also gather all nations,
And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
And I will enter into judgment with them there
On account of My people, My heritage Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
They have also divided up My land.”
Fifth: So whose land is it Mona?
