“Tyndale at 500” by Paul J. Scharf
Tyndale at 500
It was 500 years ago that William Tyndale produced the first-ever New Testament in English—translated directly from the original Greek. In the process, he conceived numerous Biblical terms that form the basis of our spiritual and theological vocabulary to this day. He also standardized the language that we still speak.
If you own a Bible that you can hold in your hands and read, you must thank God for the life of this literary genius!
You know of my passion for the Reformation and the history of the English Bible. So I am making a special effort this year to help everyone remember the 500th anniversary of the work of this Christian hero and martyr, William Tyndale.
Watch for more installments in my series of columns and sermons. But I hope you will begin by accessing these resources:
“Part 1 – The Plowboy’s Perspective”
“Part 2 – ‘Singularly Addicted’”
“Calling All Plowboys” (audio message)
I hope these resources will be a blessing to plowboys everywhere!
500th Anniversary Blessings,
