UK FM to Palestinian Counterpart: Jerusalem Should Be ‘Shared’ Capital of Two States

Algemeiner: Jerusalem should ultimately be the shared capital of Israeli and Palestinian states, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson told his Palestinian Authority counterpart Riyad al-Malki on Monday, a statement from Britain’s Foreign Office said.

“I reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and the two-state solution, the urgent need for renewed peace negotiations, and the UK’s clear and longstanding position on the status of Jerusalem,” Johnson said.

“It should be determined in a negotiated settlement between the Israelis and the Palestinians, and Jerusalem should ultimately be the shared capital of the Israeli and Palestinian states.” more …

Opinion: It was not always this way ..

In the late 1800’s, the great English Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon’s teaching on the restoration of Israel began a major prayer focus as more and more Christians rallied to see an end to the diaspora.

The ancient prophecy of Jeremiah was beginning to come into view: For behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah… and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it (Jeremiah 30:3).

A new understanding of literal Bible truth and the support of evangelical Christians became real, and in 1917 a short letter from Lord Balfour known as the “The Balfour Declaration” became the title deed for the founding of modern Israel.

Balfour 100 – How Christians Helped Bring About the Modern State of Israel

The Church of Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13) was in full view.

In 1922, after the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the League of Nations awarded Britain a mandate over the territories which today are: the State of Israel, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and Jordan, totaling 43,075 square miles.

Then things began to change:

A few months later, under liberal Prime Minister David Lloyd George, Britain took back 32,460 square miles or 78% of the original land grant, establishing a second state for Arab peoples in what is today Jordan.

From there it was an easy step to push Israel to land on the east side of the Jordan, with Israel’s land reduced to 5560 square miles, and the mighty British Empire began to weaken in accordance with Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:-1-3).

That two states for two people living side by side became a reality in 1922 has been lost to to the dustbin of history.

Today, Britain’s churches are shutting down and mosques are opening in their place.
