Senior Conservatives will this week hold talks on a “rescue mission” that would see the swift removal of Liz Truss as leader, after the new chancellor Jeremy Hunt dramatically tore up her economic package and signalled a new era of austerity, local media reported.
A group of senior MPs will meet on Monday to discuss the prime minister’s future, with some wanting her to resign within days and others saying she is now “in office but not in control”. Some are threatening to publicly call on Truss to stand down after the implosion of her tax-cutting programme, The Guardian reported.
In a rearguard action to prop up the prime minister, her cabinet allies warned MPs they would precipitate an election and ensure the Tories were “finished as a party” if they toppled a second leader in just a few months, The Guardian reported.
However, support for Truss is also evaporating inside the cabinet, with members keeping in close touch with her critics. “She is in the departure lounge now and she knows that,” said a former minister. “It is a case now of whether she takes part in the process and goes to some extent on her own terms, or whether she tries to resist and is forced out.”
Between 15 and 20 former ministers and other senior MPs have been invited to a “dinner of grown-ups”, convened by leading supporters of Rishi Sunak, to plan how and when to remove Truss and install Sunak and fellow leadership contender Penny Mordaunt as a unity pairing, The Guardian reported.
A source familiar with the conversations said: “They are just going to have to sit down and work things out. It now becomes a rescue mission for the Conservative party and the economy. That’s where we are.”
Opinion: Liz Truss said this:
“There is just one capital to the UK, and that is London. There is just one capital to Israel, Jerusalem,” she continued. “For the last two thousand years, it’s been Jerusalem, always our spiritual home. We can’t ignore the historic truth.”
That one statement has made Liz Truss unfit for office, according to the progressive left and public enemy #1 to the Arab community.
Apartheid, they scream!
A long time friend of the blog who is not a politician but is a Jewish Christian and lives in Britain said this in response to our headline post “Palestinians New Enemy” British Prime Minister Liz Truss”:
Historically Britain has among the worst of records with the Jewish people and Israel. When three and a half million Jewish people were stateless, starving and homeless after WW2 Britain refused to take them in as refugees. We even blocked their entering the Land over which we had a mandate. The rest of that story is now history. But today our government allows in illegal economic migrants calling themselves refugees by the hundred thousand. In fact we don’t know now who is in the country.
Whilst Israel continues to be secure under the Hand of God and prospers economically the while taking in ever more Jewish migrants, Britain is bankrupt, indebted for more than we can ever repay, corrupt in the extreme and simply finished as a credible nation on the world stage.
Writing as a Jewish man I could say, ‘Should have offered us a refuge.’
‘I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee.’ Genesis 12:3
Liz Truss may not be finished yet!
How ironic since is was Great Britain’s Lord Balfour who issued a public statement by the British government in 1917 during the First World War announcing support for the establishment of a “national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine, then an Ottoman region with a small minority Jewish population.
As we have said many times, Britain was then the largest and strongest empire in history. Between 1917 and 1948, under pressure from the Arab League and the United Nations, Britain took back 78% of the land granted to Israel and gave it to Arabs.
Britain began a long slide to what our British friend, Dan, said “Britain is bankrupt, indebted for more than we can ever repay, corrupt in the extreme and simply finished as a credible nation on the world stage.”
And as we have also said many times before, Genesis 12:3 has no expiration date:
“I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
So while a group of senior MPs will meet today to discuss the prime minister’s future they should keep in mind Daniel 2:21
“And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.”
