UNESCO: Cave of the Patriarchs, Rachel’s Tomb Part of “Occupied Palestine”

Jewish Press: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Executive Board has adopted resolutions 28 and 29, stating that the Cave of the Patriarchs (Maarat Hamachpela) in Hebron and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem are both “an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territories”.

The resolutions, titled “Occupied Palestine,” went on to condemn any “Israeli measures aimed at altering the character, status and demographic composition of the Occupied Palestinian territory.” The language in the resolutions, sponsored by Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Oman, Qatar, Sudan and Morocco, repeatedly referred to Israel as the “occupier” in Hebron and Bethlehem. more …

Opinion: Genesis 23:1-9

“Sarah lived to be 127 years old. She died in Hebron in the land of Canaan, and Abraham mourned her death.

He left the place where his wife’s body was lying, went to the Hittites, and said, “I am a foreigner living here among you; sell me some land, so that I can bury my wife.”

They answered, “Listen to us, sir. We look upon you as a mighty leader; bury your wife in the best grave that we have. Any of us would be glad to give you a grave, so that you can bury her.”

Then Abraham bowed before them and said, “If you are willing to let me bury my wife here, please ask Ephron son of Zohar to sell me Machpelah Cave, which is near the edge of his field. Ask him to sell it to me for its full price, here in your presence, so that I can own it as a burial ground.”

The lie, that the cave of the patriarchs is an Arab site, is big enough and has been told often enough that the world believes it. That Muslims claim Abraham as a patriarch is as Biblically and historically inaccurate as Catholics claiming Peter as the first pope.

Both are accepted as fact but both are claimed only by its adherents. Scripture does not place Peter in Rome and Muhammad was born approximately 3600 years after Abraham and Ishmael, whom Arabs claim as the father of Islam.

On September 10, 2015, the State of Palestine flag was raised at UN Headquarters. No words of protest came from then US President Barack Hussein Obama and no words of protest came from Pope Francis, who should know better.

Here is what God has to say on the matter

This is what the Lord says,

He who appoints the sun
    to shine by day,
who decrees the moon and stars
    to shine by night,
who stirs up the sea
    so that its waves roar—
the Lord Almighty is his name:
“Only if these decrees vanish from My sight,”
    declares the Lord,
“will Israel ever cease
being a nation before me.” Jeremiah 31:35-36

According to Islamic teaching:

  • The Bible was distorted by Jews and is full of errors
  • Abraham has 8 sons, not 12, and two were raised in Mecca not Hebron
  • It was Ishmael, not Isaac, whom Abraham was about to sacrifice on Mount Moriah when an angel stopped him
  • The Abrahamic covenant, with all its promises – including the title deed to the land of Israel – was passed down to the Arabs through Ishmael, rather than to the Jews through Isaac
  • Jacob, the father of modern day Judaism, was to be killed by his brother Esau (Genesis 27:41)
