BIN News: “On Friday, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) Executive Board in Paris adopted a resolution erasing Israel’s ties to the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.

The UNESCO resolution referred to the Temple Mount area solely as the Al-Aqsa Mosque or Al-Haram Al Sharif, ignoring the Jewish claim to the site.

The resolution called Israel “the occupying power” and the Western Wall as Al-Buraq Plaza.”

Opinion: Definitions:

The Temple Mount is the site of the threshing floor purchased from Araunah the Jebusite for fifty shekels of silver by King David of Israel (2nd Samuel 24:24) in 1000 BC and the site of both Jewish Temples. While Gentiles refer to it as the Wailing Wall, most Jews call it the Western Wall – the only part remaining today of the 2nd temple destroyed in AD 70.

Al-Buraq (“lightning”)  is a steed in Islamic mythology, described as a creature from the heavens which transported the prophets in Islam. The most commonly told story is how in the 7th century, Al-Buraq carried Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to the seven heavens, from the heavens to the then non-existent “farthest mosque” (Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem) and back to Mecca during the Isra and Mi’raj or “Night Journey”.

UNESCO the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization slogan “Building peace in the minds of men and women” neglects to mention three words: except for Jews.
