White House Globalists Aim to Break Campaign Pledge

Tru News: A new report by McClatchy states that globalists in President Donald Trump’s inner circle are trying to convince him to forgo a campaign promise and offer limited amnesty in exchange for other concessions on his immigration agenda.

It’s unclear how the president’s base, which is still trying to come to terms with his decision to keep troops in Afghanistan despite his pledge to pull out, will react to another change of heart. Although the vast majority still remain supportive, dealing with illegal immigration was the biggest issue he took up during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The White House officials want Trump to strike an ambitious deal with Congress that offers Dreamers protection in exchange for legislation that pays for a border wall and more detention facilities, curbs legal immigration and implements E-verify.

The group includes former and current White House chiefs of staff, Reince Priebus and John Kelly, the president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, who both serve as presidential advisers, they said. Others who have not been as vocal publicly about their stance but are thought to agree include Vice President Mike Pence, who as a congressman worked on a failed immigration deal that called for citizenship, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster and Gary Cohn, a Democrat who serves as director of the National Economic Council. more …

Opinion: Wait what? Mike Pence a globalist? Pence calls himself a “born-again, evangelical Catholic” which basically straddles two fences.

But globalist? Let’s take a look:

According to The New American magazine’s Freedom Index, which scores lawmakers based on their fidelity to the U.S. Constitution they swear to uphold, Pence scored 62 percent. While better than most Democrats and some establishment neocons and liberal “Republicans in Name Only” (RINOs), the score is hardly impressive — especially considering the fact that Pence, like all members of Congress, took an oath to defend the Constitution:

  • Pence also voted reliably to fund globalist organizations: The United Nations, the Export-Import Bank, that undermine U.S. sovereignty and prosperity
  • Pence voted to unconstitutionally surrender the power of Congress to declare war on Iraq whenever the president decided to
  • Pence slammed Trump’s popular proposal to temporarily ban Islamic immigration as “offensive and unconstitutional”
  • Pence was a cheerleader for the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
  • On April 2, just one week after the Religious Freedom Restoration Act was signed into law, Pence caved and signed a new bill essentially reversing the religious freedom protections in the act and purporting to force business owners to participate in the celebration of homosexuality at government gunpoint.
