‘Many’ Dead & Injured in Explosion at Hamas Weapons Storage Depot in Tyre, Lebanon – video

A Hamas weapons storage facility blew up late Friday night in the Burj al-Shemali section of Tyre, in Lebanon, according to Reuters. The Iranian-backed terror group maintains a presence in many so-called Palestinian Arab refugee camps in the country.

Civil defense sources said more than 20 people were killed and injured by the explosion, which occurred at the “Hamas-run” Abi bin Ka’ab Mosque, according to Lebanon’s L’Orient Today.

Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Assyria also has joined with them” Psalm 83:7-8

Ambulances were working to transport the injured as while explosions continued amid “a state of panic,” according to AlJadeed TV, which reported “the sounds of explosions were heard throughout Tyre and the region.”

“According to residents in Sour, explosive sounds were heard at 9 pm throughout the city. The scope of destruction was described as “large,” and “damage occurred in surrounding residential areas,” the news outlet reported.

And Just Like That, Inflation Is About To Disappear?

Assessment: Eventually they will simply remove the word inflation and all problems will go away …

Earlier this year, ,when inflation was still “transitory” two Fed chairs, Powell and Bernanke, made comments which we joked only make sense if the definition of inflation is changed, to wit.

*POWELL:FOMC PREPARED TO ADJUST POLICY IF EXPECTATIONS GO BEYOND

By changing the definition of PCE (personal consumption expenditures) and CPI (consumer price index)

*BERNANKE: COMMODITY PRICES WON’T ADD TO INFLATION GOING FORWARD Why? Are we changing the definition of CPI again …

“And do not harm the oil and wine” Rev. 6:6

Sadly, our feeble attempts at humor were not unjustified, and as any economic history buff knows the US dramatically changed how it calculates consumer inflation back in the 1980s, an event extensively covered by AllianceBernstein former chief economist Joseph Carson on this website in the past (see “Consumer Price Inflation: Facts vs. Fiction“) with the most important difference being that while the CPI of the 1970s included house price inflation, the current measure does not.

Instead, home price pressures have been swept in the purposefully nebulous Owner-Equivalent Rent which can be whatever politicians wants it to be (there have been other definitional changes, see hereherehere and here for more). Bottom line, however, is that if today’s CPI did include house prices in its measurement, the currently reported inflation numbers for house price inflation would push CPI (and core CPI) to double-digit gains.

Of course, it is politically inconvenient to report true inflation – just see what happens in any banana republic where society is fed up with runaway inflation. It’s also why politicians on both sides of the aisle are always eager to tweak the definition of inflation ever so slightly (or not so slightly) so it appears to be less than it truly is. After all, for them masking reality is a matter of political survival.

China Vows To Open Fire on US Troops That Come to Taiwan’s Aid

Assessment: Not quite 1 year into the Biden presidency and the world has three flashpoints: Taiwan, Ukraine and Iran. America’s enemies will continue to test weakness …

China’s military “will heavily attack U.S. troops who come to Taiwan’s rescue” if a war between China and Taiwan breaks out, a possibility that is increasingly likely as the Communist regime readies its war machine on Taiwan’s borders.

The latest threat to attack the United States during any standoff between China and Taiwan was issued Thursday in the Global Times, an official Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece that prints the regime’s propaganda. “It is credible that the [People’s Liberation Army] will heavily attack U.S. troops who come to Taiwan’s rescue,” the paper wrote. “Such credibility is increasingly overwhelming the deterrence that U.S. troops may have.”

Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.’ Rev. 16:12

China’s latest threat to escalate tensions with Taiwan comes on the heels of remarks by National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, who said the United States is prepared to counter an attempt by China to forcefully seize Taiwan and bring it back into the Communist country’s orbit. The long-simmering standoff comes as the Biden administration confronts Russian attempts to invade Ukraine, a situation that could also prompt U.S. intervention.

China has been threatening to take Taiwan since the Biden administration took office, leading the United States to bolster the island’s defense and warn the CCP against escalation. Thursday’s Global Times editorial marks one of the first times in recent memory that China has actually threatened to attack U.S. troops who might come to Taiwan’s aid.

“If Washington supports the Taiwan authority’s path of seeking secession and encourages the Taiwan authority to rely on it, then reunification by force will definitely happen.

LGBT activists are loudly and proudly trying to ‘normalize queerness’ in children’s literature

Assessment: It is important, Prasad writes, not to “perpetuate” the “generational prejudices that we inherit from our elders …

This comes as no surprise to those of us who have been following the LGBT takeover of culture over the past decade or so, but it is still worth noting: Activists now feel comfortable enough to say the quiet part out loud. That is, as I’ve written in this space before, they are no longer pretending that the education (or re-education) of children is not the goal of their movement.

Writer Anukriti Prasad says as much this month in an article titled “How children’s literature can help in the move to normalise queerness.” This can be difficult, Prasad says, because many parents are still homophobic and dedicated to “heteronormativity.”

For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;
That the generation to come might know them” Psalm 78:5-6

As such, it is important that the education children receive at school be designed to subvert the upbringing they might receive from such parents. An excerpt:

Nandini Choudhury, relationship expert and meditation mentor at a Kolkata-based wellness organisation called Crystal Minds, believes this cycle runs on modelling. “Being especially impressionable in their formative years, children often emulate their parents’ exhibited behaviour. Along with adopting demonstrated vocabulary and mannerisms, they also inherit the biases they hear most often. How they witness elders, whether at home or in school – the two most crucial sites in children’s lives – approaching various topics, defines the formation of their own responses to these concepts.”

It is important, Prasad writes, not to “perpetuate” the “generational prejudices that we inherit from our elders.”

Prices Climb At Fastest Pace Since 1982… But It Could Have Been Worse

Assessment: It may have been the death knell for team transitory, with Chair Powell taking pains to retire the term in his recent testimony before Congress …

Having surged faster than expected in 7 of the last 8 months, all eyes are on this morning’s Consumer Price Index as this is the last big release ahead of next Wednesday’s Federal Reserve decision, where Deutsche Bank economists (among many others) are expecting they’ll double the pace of tapering.

Chair Powell himself reinforced those expectations in recent testimony, stopping just shy of unilaterally announcing the faster taper. Crucially, he noted this CPI print and the evolution of the virus were potential roadblocks to a faster taper next week.

“And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine” Rev. 6:6

And sure enough, CPI printed +6.8% YoY – right as expected and the fastest rate of increase since 1982…

Core CPI – stripping out everything you spend money on every day – rose at 4.9% YoY – its highest level since 1991…

In another blow for team transitory, the drivers of inflation were increasingly broad-based, rather than just in a few categories affected by the pandemic. Both Goods and Services costs rose, as did Food and Energy prices…

Trump: ‘If it weren’t for me, Israel would’ve been destroyed by now’

Assessment: Sadly, former President Trump learned nothing from the cadre of pastors and worship leaders that surrounded him for photo-ops…

Israeli journalist Barak Ravid has publicized excerpts from his new book, “Trump’s peace: The Abraham Accords and the Reshaping of the Middle East,” which will be published in Israel on Sunday.

The book contains two interviews with Former US President Trump, from April and July of this year, which touch on a myriad of issues from during Trump’s presidency.

“… Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper .” Psalm 121:4-5

In one of the interviews, Trump told Ravid, “I told David Friedman (former US ambassador to Israel), ‘Give me a five-minute lecture on the Golan Heights. Why is it important?’ I stopped him after one minute. It’s up high strategically so important, right? I got that for them… it was a big deal. People say that was a $10 billion gift.”

“I did it right before the election, which helped him (former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) a lot… he would have lost the election if it wasn’t for me. So he tied. He went up a lot after I did it. He went up 10 points or 15 points after I did Golan Heights,” Trump said.

UN HEADQUARTERS: STATUE OF LION WITH WINGS AS DESCRIBED IN DANIEL’S DREAM ERECTED

Assessment: The lion with eagles wings speaks of swiftness. Interestingly the lion and eagle were both symbols of Babylon, the city set for destruction in Revelation 18:1-3 …

A statue with Biblical implications has been erected recently outside the United Nations headquarters in New York City. The statue, entitled the ‘guardian for international peace and security, is situated on the Visitor’s Plaza outside UN Headquarters. According to the UN, the ‘guardian’ is a “fusion of jaguar and eagle.” It was donated by the Government of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Many have noticed an eerie similarity to Daniel’s dream in the Bible:

The first was like a lion but had eagles’ wings. (Daniel 7:4)

His dream featured four beasts – a lion with wings, a bear with fangs, a four-winged leapord. The fourth beast had ten horns.

“The first was like a lion but had eagles’ wings. As I looked on, its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted off the ground and set on its feet like a man and given the mind of a man. Then I saw a second, different beast, which was like a bear but raised on one side, and with three fangs in its mouth among its teeth; it was told, ‘Arise, eat much meat!’ After that, as I looked on, there was another one, like a leopard, and it had on its back four wings like those of a bird; the beast had four heads, and dominion was given to it. After that, as I looked on in the night vision, there was a fourth beast—fearsome, dreadful, and very powerful, with great iron teeth—that devoured and crushed, and stamped the remains with its feet. It was different from all the other beasts which had gone before it; and it had ten horns.” (Daniel 7:4-7)

The beast represent all of the kingdoms that subjugated the nation of Israel. The lion with wings represents Babylon. The bear represented Persia. The four-winged leopard represented Greece and the final most treacherous of them all represented Rome.

The verse is a reference to the final redemption whereby the Messiah arises from the demise of the enemies of Israel, represented by the beasts, to reign supreme:

“As I looked on, in the night vision, One like a human being Came with the clouds of heaven; He reached the Ancient of Days And was presented to Him. Dominion, glory, and kingship were given to him; All peoples and nations of every language must serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not pass away, And his kingship, one that shall not be destroyed.” (Daniel 7:13-14)

Having a statue representing Biblical Persia in the UN headquarters can be an ominous sign as the world powers have recently re-engaged with Iran, modern-day Persia, to negotiate a potential solution to their apocalyptic nuclear ambitions.

Germany’s new ‘traffic light’ government signals worry for German Jews

Olaf Scholz is  serving as Chancellor of Germany since December 8, 2021

Assessment: In the west, Persia is historically the common name for Iran. How interesting that Iran means land of the Aryans in Persian …

“We now have a culture minister who is a close friend of the Iranians and who has bowed her head wearing a headscarf in front of the mullah regime, in addition to being a supporter of the boycotters of Israel,” said Sacha Stawski, head of the pro-Israel watchdog group Honestly Concerned …

Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets” Ezekiel 38:5 NIV

Germany’s “traffic light” government, led by new Chancellor Olaf Scholz of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was sworn in on Wednesday under the banner “dare to make progress.” Jewish leaders, activists and analysts, however, fear that the coalition will make less progress in strengthening Israel-German ties.

The 177-page coalition agreement of the “traffic light” government, named after the colors of the three coalition partners—the red Social Democrats, the Green Party and the yellow Free Democratic Party (FDP)—focuses on promoting climate protection and financial restructuring. It also includes sections on policies relating to Jews and Israel that some say are inconsistent with its oft-repeated proclamations to support Israel and fight anti-Semitism.

These include an insistence on negotiating with Iran in its quest for nuclear armament, disdain of Israeli settlements and approval of funding of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Iran nuclear talks resume in Vienna, end within an hour

Assessment: The talks had broken off last Friday, with European officials saying that Iran’s demands were unrealistic and expressing concerns that Iran was stalling while advancing its nuclear program …

Talks to salvage the 2015 Iran nuclear deal formally resumed on Thursday, with a meeting of the remaining parties to the deal, which does not include the United States, Russia’s top envoy to the talks said on Twitter. The meeting ended within an hour.

“The meeting of the Joint Commission is over. It was rather short and constructive,” Mikhail Ulyanov tweeted. “The participants observed a number of important commonalities in their positions, including with regard to the need to finalize the #ViennaTalks on restoration of #JCPOA successfully and swiftly.”

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme. You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people—all of them living without walls and without gates and bars” Ez. 38:10-11

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that the parties decided during the meeting to continue discussions on the documents proposed by Iran at various levels. The report stated that Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani explained the basics of Iran’s proposals and emphasized Iran’s “seriousness and goodwill in the talks.”

“Iran will continue to engage seriously & is determined to reach a good deal that secures our nation’s rights & interests,” wrote Kani in a tweet earlier on Thursday.

The talks had broken off last Friday, with European officials saying that Iran’s demands were unrealistic and expressing concerns that Iran was stalling while advancing its nuclear program.

On Monday, Saeed Khatibzadeh, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stressed that Iran was only negotiating the lifting of sanctions and was not considering a temporary or interim agreement. He added that Iran is “not in a hurry” and would not allow anyone to “play” with their time and energy in Vienna.

Kansas City Chabad house vandalized during Hanukkah

Assessment: The Chabad house is raising money for repairs, and a search is underway for a temporary building for the community center while plumbing and electrical work takes place …

A Jewish community center in Kansas City, Missouri was vandalized during Hanukkah, with the vandals trashing books and papers, destroying electrical wiring and leaving extensive water damage.

“There is nothing more disturbing than walking into the Chabad house for an early morning Torah class and finding the place torn up,” Rabbi Yitzchak Itkin posted to Facebook. “That was my reality this week.”

“The Chabad house is raising money for repairs, and a search is underway for a temporary building for the community center while plumbing and electrical work takes place.

“Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey” 1 Sam. 15:3

The vandals caused thousands of dollars worth of damage, including throwing around books and paper, destroying electric wiring and leaving water damage, the Associated Press reported

In some rooms, cabinet doors were ripped off their hinges, and there were areas full of standing water, according to a report from KSHB news.

Kansas City Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of broken glass and a black SUV parked outside the building. Later in the day, officers spotted what they believed was the same SUV but it drove away when they attempted to stop it.

Rabbi Itkin said that the Torah and other religious texts did not sustain damage.
