Texas’s heartbeat win gives America a ray of hope when we needed it most

LifeSite News: Texas delivered a historic win for the preborn this week, and while the long-term ramifications may not be as certain as pro-lifers hope or pro-aborts fear, the number of lives that will be saved in the immediate aftermath make Wednesday, September 1 one of the greatest days the movement has seen in a long time.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

As LifeSiteNews has covered, the Texas Heartbeat Act took effect Wednesday, empowering private citizens to sue any abortionist who commits any abortion if a heartbeat can be detected (generally as early as six weeks), or who doesn’t bother to look for one before aborting. The novel law keeps state prosecutors out of the matter entirely, instead unleashing on the abortion industry the threat of being buried in more civil suits than they could handle.

Better yet, the Supreme Court voted 5-4 not to block the law from taking effect, meaning that – for now, at least – Texas abortionists are the ones on the defensive for a change. While one pack of monsters at Whole Woman’s Health in Fort Worth reportedly rushed to kill 67 babies in the 17 hours before Tuesday’s midnight deadline, overall the abortion industry appears to be playing it cautiously; Planned Parenthood and Whole Woman’s Health say they have stopped scheduling abortions beyond six weeks.

Read that again: abortionists stopped committing abortions. That doesn’t happen after most state pro-life laws. For now, the threat of crushing lawsuits is working. Read More

Reports of air strike in Syria, explosions heard in central Israel

Arutz Sheva: Syrian media reported overnight Thursday that the country’s air defense systems were activated following an Israeli air strike on several targets in Damascus.

Syrian television reported that the defense systems managed to shoot down most of the missiles and that only material damage was caused.

For behold, Your enemies make a tumult;
And those who hate You have lifted up their head.” Psalm 83:2

Meanwhile, residents of Gush Dan reported hearing explosions, including in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Givatayim. The IDF is investigating whether the explosions were the result of a Syrian anti-aircraft missile that breached Israel.

Texas Heartbeat law survives first challenge at SCOTUS by 5-4 vote

LifeSite: While Wednesday’s decision stressed that it wasn’t a ruling on the merits of the law, many pro-lifers have taken the majority’s willingness to let the law stand even temporarily as an encouraging sign.

The U.S. Supreme Court formally denied the abortion lobby’s request to block the Texas Heartbeat Act Wednesday evening, voting 5-4 to let the historic law take effect while arguments on the constitutional merits of abortion restrictions work their way through the judicial system.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life” Deut. 30:19

Signed in May by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, the Act requires abortionists to screen for a preborn baby’s heartbeat and prohibits abortion if a heartbeat can be heard (generally as early as six weeks), with exceptions only for medical emergencies.

The law relies on a unique enforcement mechanism. Instead of having the state prosecute violators, it “exclusively” empowers private citizens to bring civil suits against abortionists, punishable by a minimum of $10,000 in statutory relief per abortion plus whatever additional injunctive relief is deemed “sufficient to prevent the defendant from violating this chapter or engaging in acts that aid or abet violations of this chapter.”

Texas Right to Life (TRTL) has set up a website where concerned Texans can anonymously report abortionists who commit abortions after finding a heartbeat or without testing for one. Read More

White House Refuses to Confirm or Deny Embarrassing Details of Joe Biden’s Call with Afghanistan President

Breitbart: The White House Wedesday refused to address leaked details of a conversation between President Joe Biden and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani revealing concerns about the government collapse as early as July.

“I’m not going to get into private diplomatic conversations or leaked transcripts of phone calls,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Wednesday when asked about the report.

The Reuters report revealed details of the transcript of the July 23 conversation, where Biden urged Ghani to show the world they were competing militarily with the Taliban.

“There is a need, whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture,” he said to Ghani, urging him to try to change the narrative.

A righteous man hates lying,
But a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame” Proverbs 13:5

The report demonstrates that Biden knew the conditions in Afghanistan were going poorly, even though he publicly signaled confidence in the government’s defense against the Taliban and the White House has repeated that no one could have known Afghanistan could have fallen so quickly.

On August 10, Biden tried himself to rally behind the notion that Afghanistan leaders would step up to send a different message to the world.

“I think there’s still a possibility — you have a significant new Secretary of Defense — our equivalent of a Secretary of Defense in Afghanistan, Bismillah Khan, who is a serious fighter,” Biden said at the White House, citing information from his daily presidential briefing.

Thank You America: Taliban Now Has More Air Power Than Many NAT0 Nations

Daily Mail:

  • Jihadists have seized several major airbases, in Herat, Khost, Kunduz and Mazar-i-Sharif, and Kabul
  • They have proudly posted pictures of seized $6m Black Hawks and a $14m Hercules transport jet
  • The Taliban have been hunting for pilots from the disbanded Afghan Air Force to fly the vehicles

“It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness,
For a throne is established by righteousness.” Proverbs 16:12

  • Before Kabul fell, planes and helicopters were disabled by US troops, while others were flown overseas
  • The jihadists have as many as 48 aircraft – it’s not clear how many planes or helicopters this breaks down to
  • This is more aircraft than a third of Nato member states, including: Albania, Bosnia, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Slovenia

The jewel in the crown, Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, was seized on Tuesday by triumphant jihadists who were seen clambering into the cockpit of a $14 million Hercules transport jet. Read More

Amid Hyperinflation And Economic Ruin, A Humanitarian Crisis Breaks Out In Afghanistan

Zero Hedge: Two weeks ago, when the world was still transfixed by the historic US foreign policy failure which allowed the Taliban to overrun Afghanistan in a matter of hours which has made the Biden administration the laughing stock of both the developing and developed worlds, we said that “for all the focus on the humanitarian crisis unfolding at an unprecedented pace in Afghanistan, many are forgetting that an even worse economic disaster awaits the “Islamic Emirate” of Afghanistan now that the Taliban are in charge.”

“You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” Haggai 1:6

So today, as the Taliban were celebrating and parading in their brand new US military hardware, behind the scenes a far more catastrophic scene was unfolding: the economic disaster we warned would happen within weeks.

As Reuters reports, now that the initial adrenaline rush is gone, Afghanistan’s new Taliban rulers are struggling to keep the country functioning after the final withdrawal of U.S. forces, with foreign donors alarmed about an impending humanitarian crisis. Indeed, two weeks since the Taliban’s sweep into Kabul brought a chaotic end to 20 years of warfare, the Islamist militants have yet to name a new government or reveal how they intend to rule.

In the administrative vacuum, prices have soared, the currency has crashed, commerce has ground to a halt, and crowds have gathered at banks to withdraw cash. Meanwhile, as heavily armed fighters imposed control on the capital, Taliban officials were grappling with keeping hospitals and government machinery running following the end of a huge airlift of foreigners and Afghans who had helped Western forces. A government with 2 heads: Bennett and Gantz lead coordinated, opposing policies

Times of Israel: a As of now, Israel’s 36th government seems to be divided into two distinct camps with contradictory approaches to the peace process with the Palestinians. Each is advancing its own agenda, but both appear to be okay and even comfortable with the situation.

The right-wing camp is led by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett; the left-wing one by Defense Minister Benny Gantz. Nevertheless, the two leaders have a good relationship, despite the occasional tensions.

“And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” KJV

This double-headed approach was visible on two recent occasions. For instance, when the government okayed thousands of new settlement homes in the West Bank alongside mass permits for Palestinian construction, Bennett said his government’s policy was to strengthen the settlements since it was “more right-wing” than the previous one led by Benjamin Netanyahu.
