UNHRC: The continued occupation by Israel of Palestinian territory and discrimination against Palestinians are the key root causes of the recurrent tensions, instability and protraction of conflict in the region, according to the first report by the new United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, issued today.
The Commission also noted that impunity is feeding increased resentment among the Palestinian people. It identified forced displacement, threats of forced displacement, demolitions, settlement construction and expansion, settler violence, and the blockade of Gaza as contributing factors to recurring cycles of violence.
“The findings and recommendations relevant to the underlying root causes were overwhelmingly directed towards Israel, which we have taken as an indicator of the asymmetrical nature of the conflict and the reality of one State occupying the other,” Navanethem Pillay, chair of the Commission, said. Opinion: “On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates—” Genesis 15:18
God’s gift to Abram was a much larger piece of land than Israel has today. Genesis 17:7-8 identified the owners of that land would be Abraham, and his descendants after him – Isaac and Jacob.
A disobedient Israel was to be dispersed (except for a remnant) from the land in 586 BC to Babylon for 70 years, and in AD 70, Israel would be dispersed again (except for a remnant) this time for 1800 years.
In 1881 and 1903, the Jews started to make their way (aliyah) back to the land God gave them.
Fast forward to the end of World War I.
The Ottoman (Arab) Empire sided with Hitler and was crushed. The Middle East land was taken by the allies and Britain gave the land of Israel (both sides of the Jordan river) to the Jews for a homeland.
In 1922, Britain took back 78% of that land grant and and gave it to the Arabs as a two state solution. Inexplicably, in 1947, another two state solution was offered to divide what was left of Israel. The Jews accepted but the Arabs turned it down.
“I will plant them in their land,
And no longer shall they be pulled up
From the land I have given them,”
Says the Lord your God.” Amos 9:15
Fast forward to today:
There is a sense of panic in the UN report to get Israel to surrender land taken in the 1967 defensive war while a third Obama term is in the White House.
It was Barack Obama in 2016 who instructed Samantha Power to abstain on UN Resolution 2334 that declared that Israel′s settlement activity (home building) constitutes a “flagrant violation” of international law and has “no legal validity”, and further demanded that Israel stop such activity and fulfill its obligations as an ‘occupying power’ under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
Occupying power is it?
In 1967, Egypt, Syria and Jordan launched an attack to wipe out the Jewish state once and for all, but God had other plans. All three invading armies were wiped out in 6 days in a victory that stunned the world. By miraculous decree, Israel and Jerusalem were reunited after almost 2000 years. The strategic defense buffers of the Golan Heights, Gaza and the Sinai also came under Israeli control and the Arab world cannot get over the humiliation.
Despite the fact that Israel gave back the Sinai to Egypt and the Gaza Strip to Arabs in exchange for peace that never came, the world wants Israel to give it ALL back. Golan and East Jerusalem/Temple Mount not withstanding.
Article: In its report, the Commission focused on the findings and recommendations directly related to underlying root causes of recurrent tensions, instability and protraction of conflict. In its assessment, key recommendations have not been implemented and this lies at the heart of the conflict. The Commission identified several overarching issues that lay at the core of most recommendations, including Israel’s failure to uphold the laws and customs of war, including those of belligerent occupation, violations and abuses of individual and collective rights, and a lack of accountability.
The Biblical outcome to the current stand-off will be two wars:
- Psalm 83 will be an Arab alliance to try to wipe out the Jewish state that will fail
- Ezekiel 38-39 will be a Russian alliance to wipe out the Jewish state and it too will fail
When he arrives on the world stage, take a guess what land and people will be in the crosshairs of the Antichrist?
That’s right, you know the answer, it’s the Jewish people, and the tribulation and final war that will bring them to salvation, will be next (Daniel 11:40-45; Zechariah 12:10; Romans 11:25-27).
