Jibril Rajoub: “Auschwitz is here… in Palestine”

PMW: This is a repeating libel often voiced by Palestinians and Arabs stating that Israel is “worse than Hitler”  and “committing a Holocaust” against the Palestinians in general and against the terrorist prisoners in particular.

The same libel was expressed by Former Jordanian Minister of Education and Advisor at Philadelphia University in Jordan Dr. Ibrahim Badran, who stated on official PA TV that Israel is a “racist state” that “rejects the other in a Nazi, Hitlerian manner” – in fact “has outdone what Hitler did.”

His statement went unchallenged by the PA TV interviewer. The former education minister expounded this description, stating that the difference between Hitler and Israel is that Hitler “murdered many at once” but Israel “is murdering the others slowly… with Western support”:  more …

Opinion: References to the Holocaust are the go-to response for leftist politicians and Arabs living in Israel who call themselves Palestinians. But where did the name Palestinian come from?

Palestine 101: After the Romans conquered the Bar Kochba revolt in 135 AD, the Roman  Emperor Hadrian changed the name of Israel and Judea to Palestine. Palestine means ‘Land of the Philistines’ and was meant as an insult to the Jews. Philistines were thought to be from Crete and continually waged war against the Israelites (1 Samuel 4-7, 13, 17). Goliath was a Philistine.

Palestine 102: In 1948, Arabs who had been living in the Holy Land were warned by Arab leaders to leave the area because a war of annihilation against Israel was about to begin. Many stayed, anyway. After the war, tens of thousands of Arabs were stranded in Israel; only Jordan accepted a limited number of them, while the surrounding Arab nations closed their doors, leaving them in tent cities.

Palestine 201: It was in those camps that Yasser Arafat, one of the most rabid Jew killers of the 20th century, named these hapless pawns Palestinians.

Ancient Philistine cities:

Gaza, Ashdod, Ekron, Ashkelon, and more recently Gath, are the Philistine cities in ancient Canaan.

Philistines: A people group who are thought to have traveled by boat to southern Israel from Crete in the 12th century BC.

Goliath is described in the biblical book of Samuel as a giant Philistine warrior who was defeated by young David of Israel in single combat.

Some things never change.
