BIN: At a campaign rally on Monday afternoon at an airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, President Trump made a remarkable statement.
“And we moved the capital of Israel to Jerusalem,” Trump said at the rally. “That’s for the evangelicals.”
The president was, of course, referring to his historic decision to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Having promised during his campaign to do so, he recognized Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel in December 2017. His decision was widely criticized by the Democrat party, foreign leaders, the European Union, and the UN Security Council. The Palestinian Authority cut off its relations with the US in response and held violent riots. Read More …
Opinion: I get why Catholics were against the embassy move since the decision was criticized by Pope Francis:
“I make a heartfelt appeal so that all commit themselves to respecting the status quo of the city, in conformity with the pertinent resolutions of the United Nations,” he said.
That Pope Francis is calling for the status quo in conformity with the United Nations, European Union, China, and Russia, underscores the company the Vatican keeps.
But why Evangelicals, and not other US denominations like Lutherans, Presbyterian USA or even reform Jews?
IT’S IN THE BOOK!
“Thus says the Lord:
‘I will return to Zion,
And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth,
The Mountain of the Lord of hosts,
The Holy Mountain.’ Zechariah 8:2
The mountain of the Lord refers to the mount where two temples once stood and the Millennial Temple will be built (Ezekiel 40-43)
“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And all nations shall flow to it.” Isaiah 2:1-2
When the 7 years of tribulation are over and Messiah Jesus returns to the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4), the Jewish people and those saved by coming to faith in Jesus Christ during the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), will come to the mountain of the Lord
Many people shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law, Isaiah 2:3
And there the Jewish man will be esteemed among the nations
“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” Zechariah 8:23
