Israel 365: The United Nations General Assembly adopted two resolutions on Wednesday presented by Egypt on Jerusalem and the Golan. 129 countries supported the resolution, 11 voted against it, and 31 abstained including, Austria, Brazil, Germany, India, Kenya, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. referring to the Temple Mount only as “al-Haram al-Sharif”, the resolution called for “upholding unchanged the historic status quo at the Haram al-Sharif,” and called any actions by Israel to impose its laws on the city of Jerusalem “illegal.”

“As for those peoples that warred against Yerushalayim, Hashem will smite them with this plague: Their flesh shall rot away while they stand on their feet; their eyes shall rot away in their sockets; and their tongues shall rot away in their mouths. Zechariah 14:12 (The Israel BibleTM)”

The Arabic reference is ironic as it means “the noble sanctuary” and is a reference to the Jewish Temples that stood at the site. It is also ironic that the resolutions come during the holiday of Hanukkah that commemorates the Jews conquering Jerusalem and rededicating said temple over 2,000 years ago.

The resolution, referring to Israel as “the occupying power”, called for all countries “not to render aid or assistance to illegal settlement activities.” Implicit in this statement is that aid provided by European entities to Muslim-Arab settlements that are built in contravention of the negotiated Oslo Agreement is acceptable. The resolution only decries aid given to settlements housing Jews.

Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, called the resolution an attempt to “erase Jewish history in our eternal capital.” Read More …

Opinion: Imagine for a moment that you are an Arab leader in either Judea or the Gaza Strip. Imagine the elation you would feel reading that headline. The United Nations agrees with you that the Jews are an occupying power, and that the land God gave to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as a permanent possession (Genesis 17:7-8) was meant for the bloodline of Abraham/Esau and Abraham/Ishmael all along.

What would you do with that propaganda? Would you be concerned that Joe Biden’s return to Barack Obama’s Middle East anti-Jewish policies may be short lived? Would you be motivated to start moving quickly to get a Palestinian consulate/capital established in the city of David? Would this be your chance to remove the Jews from Jerusalem?

Rhetorical questions all.

“Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”

In Psalm 2:1-3 the language implies armed rebellion. The writer, not identified, expresses amazement at the plans of the nations to overthrow the Lord and His Anointed One, Messiah (Greek, christos).

Is it not uncanny how the United Nations echo a 3000 years old Psalm? The nations today also attempt, by the rulers of this world, to break the ties between man and his Creator.

The Psalmist then turns from his description of the nations to the Lord’s response.

“He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”

How foolish are the nations to oppose God. In verses 5 and 6 God shows His contempt for the nations’ plan, and His resolution to install His King in Jerusalem.
