Israel 365: Russian President Vladimir Putin departed from Moscow on Tuesday for the first time since he invaded Ukraine in February. He will be visiting Iran for a meeting with the Islamic Regime’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali al-Khamenei.
Their meeting comes just one week after White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that US intelligence reported that Tehran wants to sell “several hundred” drones to the Kremlin. The sale includes drones that are capable of weapons strikes that can be used against Ukraine. Russia’s military is scheduled to train with them as early as this month.
”The contact with Khamenei is very important,” Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s foreign policy adviser, told reporters in Moscow. “A trusting dialogue has developed between them on the most important issues on the bilateral and international agenda.”
“On most issues, our positions are close or identical,” he added.
Opinion: This is one of those headlines that jumps of the page of Ezekiel 38 and on to this website. It is not the first time that Putin has joined arms with Iran and Turkey This picture is from 2019 over agreements on supporting Syria …
…but it is the first time that Israel has supported a Russian enemy in war.
“The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him 3 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal. . Ezekiel 38:1-3
- Gog is a prince of (Rosh) Russia; a title of a strong leader.
- Magog is the 2nd son of Japheth (a son of Noah) who settled in what is today Russia
- Josephus, the first century Jewish historian, identified the offspring of Magog as the Scythians (Edomites from Judea and Persia) who were known as brutal, horse-riding nomads that resided in the area of modern-day southern Russia and East Ukraine.
- Meshech and Tubal, once a part of Turkey.
“I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 5 Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets, 6 also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.” Ezekiel 38:5-6
- Persia is modern day Iran
- Cush (eldest son of Noah’s son Ham) is the area of Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia
- Put (third son of Ham) is the area of Libya, possibly Tunisia and Algeria
- Gomer, Beth Togarmah, Meshech, Tubal are ancient names for Turkey
- Many nations with you: possibly additional North African Islamic allies
The old expression “the gangs all here comes to mind.
Notice that there are no Arab nations joining the Russians to wipe Israel off the map. The most likely reason is found in Psalm 83, an all Arab invasion that precedes Ezekiel 38-39.
Here’s why:
Ezek. 38:8 “After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword (Hebrew- charab/ synonymous with war) and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely.”
There has been no Arab war that combined all of Israel’s neighbors yet. However, on the heals of Joe Biden’s disastrous visit to Israel pushing a two state solution that emboldened the PA and Hamas, the stage is now set for war.
(See Bible Prophecy 101 Chapter 6 here and chapter 7 of our E-Book “The last wars in Prophecy” here) for more on both wars
