Ukraine’s military has stopped Russian invasion troops “in most directions” despite renewed missile strikes that began at 4 a.m. local time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday.

“The enemy has been stopped in most directions. The fights continue,” Zelenskyy said in a speech that was translated by NBC News. “Russia expects us to get tired, but we’re not tired.”

After midnight on Thursday evening, Zelensky said his country had been ‘left alone’ to defend itself against Russia and said other world leaders were ‘afraid’ to intervene.

He had earlier told other world leaders: ‘If you don’t help us now, if you fail to offer strong assistance to Ukraine, tomorrow the war will knock on your door.’

A source close to the Ukrainian government said they agreed that Kyiv will be surrounded within 96 hours but believed the government will stay strong and not collapse.

In a bid to thwart the imminent capture of the city, Emmanuel Macron spoke to Vladimir Putin tonight, who gave the French leader an ‘exhaustive’ explanation of his justification for war.

President Biden condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as being “without justification” Thursday as he announced new sanctions and export restrictions against Moscow — but he declined to sanction Russian President Vladimir Putin personally and admitted that America’s European allies are opposed to kicking Russia out of a key global banking system.

In remarks from the East Room of the White House, a visibly angered Biden called Putin “the aggressor” in Europe’s worst conflict since World War II and said that “he wants to, in fact, re-establish the former Soviet Union.”

“Putin chose this war. Now he and his country will bear the consequences,” the president added.

Despite the big talk, Biden was forced to deny that the threat of sanctions against Putin’s personal wealth was a bluff, insisting under questioning that such a move was “still on the table.”

“Why not sanction him today, sir? Why not sanction him today?” CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked. Biden would not answer and called on a different journalist to ask a question.
