WPRI News: Human remains from an ancient cemetery in southern Israel have yielded precious bits of DNA that a new study says help prove the European origin of the Philistines — the enigmatic nemeses of the biblical Israelites.
The Philistines mostly resided in five cities along the southern coast of what is today Israel and the Gaza Strip during the early Iron Age, around 3,000 years ago. In the Bible, David fought the Philistine giant Goliath in a duel, and Samson slew a thousand of their warriors with the jawbone of an ass.
The researchers looked at DNA from 10 skeletons excavated from the ancient cemetery in Ashkelon, one of the Philistine seaports.
Now, a study of genetic material extracted from skeletons unearthed in the Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon in 2013 has found a DNA link. It connects the Philistines to populations in southern Europe during the Bronze Age. more …

Blood Markers for High Priest:
“In a January 2000 post from the Jewish website Aish.com, an article by Dr. Karl Skorecki considered a hypothesis: “If the Cohanim are descendants of one man, they should have a common set of genetic markers — a common haplotype — that of their common
Calculations based on the high rate of genetic similarity of today’s Cohanim resulted in the highest “paternity-certainty” rate ever recorded in population genetics studies — a scientific testimony to family faithfulness.”
The DNA of a Cohanim, a descendant of Aaron, is needed to identify a High Priest for the 3rd temple. The DNA of the Philistines show a link to enemies of the Jewish people residing in southern Israel and southern Europe.
What would the DNA of Esau show?
If the Cohanim and the Philistines can be identified through genetic studies, consider the line of Esau and the account of his death found in the Babylonian Talmud.
“Then the sons of Jacob met together, and also Esau and his brethren, and they said, ‘Let us leave the entrance of the cavern open, so that when any die he may be buried therein.’ But afterwards a dispute arose among them, and one of the brothers of Esau — or, as some say, one of the sons of Jacob— raised his hand and struck Esau a blow that caused his head to fall off, and it rolled into the cave. And they carried away his body and buried it without the head, for the head remained within the cave.”
Would the DNA of Esau (Edom) be found in the Arab Palestinians of the West Bank and Gaza as Bible prophecy indicates (Obadiah 1:18; Isaiah 63:1-3; Malachi 1:1-4)? If so, does a politically correct world have the courage to say so.
