THE EMPHASIS OF THE WORLD IS TO TRY TO MAKE HUMANS EQUAL IN MANY DIFFERENT AREAS.
SO, ARE WE ALL EQUAL? WHAT IS TRUE EQUALITY?
1. Biologically
Really, the modern LGBTQ movement is a push to make humans equal biologically. Supposedly, males can be females, and females can be males. However, biologically (and genetically), males and females are different. Our sex chromosomes confirm what God stated in his Word that “from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female’” (Mark 10:6). Women bear children—men cannot.
Certainly there are many things men and women can equally do, but the Bible makes it clear that God also gave men and women different roles from the beginning.
2. Roles
The feminist movement, in essence, wanted men and women to have completely equal roles. Certainly there are many things men and women can equally do, but the Bible makes it clear that God also gave men and women different roles from the beginning. For instance, consider the origin of the first woman: “Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him’” (Genesis 2:18).
Now in 1 Timothy 2:12-13 Paul refers back to Adam being created first and Eve being deceived. He does this so that we know how to determine authority in relation to the church. God gave different roles to man and woman in marriage. For instance, the father is to be the spiritual head of the house. I encourage fathers to read Psalm 78. But God’s Word also states that the husband and wife are to submit to each other in the roles God ordained for them, “submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ” (Ephesians 5:21). And there is a specific instruction for men to sacrificially pour out love on their wives: “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25).
3. Talents
God gives us different gifts: “Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness” (Romans 12:6-8). Those with the gift of teaching are warned to use the gift very responsibly: “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness” (James 3:1).
4. Wealth
The Bible even makes it clear that not everyone will have wealth: “For you always have the poor with you” (Matthew 26:11). We need to take God’s Word as written and ensure that we do not conform to the world’s message of equality.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).
What else can we learn from all this? Most importantly, God’s Word makes it clear that we are the same in that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23), and we all need and can receive the free gift of salvation, bought by the precious blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9).
“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.” (Revelation 5:9)
