Canadian Pastors Sound Off On New Law That Threatens To Criminalize Evangelism

Days ago, Canada approved a “conversion therapy” ban that condemns Christian doctrine on the sinfulness of homosexuality and transgenderism as “myth.” Indeed, bill C-4 — passed unanimously by both the Senate and the House of Commons — threatens pastors with up to five years of prison time if they remain faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As thousands of American ministers stand in solidarity with Canadian believers by preaching about biblical sexual ethics on Sunday, January 16, two Canadian pastors — Jacob Reaume of Trinity Bible Chapel and Tim Stephens of Fairview Baptist Church — told The Daily Wire about the implications of C-4 and how Canadian Christians plan to respond.

 “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers.” Romans 1:28-29

The Church must be a prophetic witness’

While describing C-4, Reaume — whose church incurred over $100,000 in fines last year for refusing to shut its doors in defiance of Canada’s COVID-19 lockdowns — noted that the edict will “make the preaching of the biblical gospel a criminal act.”

“The biblical gospel is a message of conversion, whereby Christ causes sinners to be born-again, thus converting them from sinful propensities to godliness,” he explained.

“The bill’s language is vague enough that many think it might criminalize a biblical call to forsake sodomitic propensities to embrace righteousness.”

China Slams US Sanctions on Iran as Cooperation Agreement Launched

China reaffirmed its opposition to unilateral sanctions by the United States against Iran as the Chinese and Iranian foreign ministers announced the launch of a 25-year cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening economic and political ties.

In a meeting on Friday in the city of Wuxi, in Jiangsu province, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also backed efforts to revive a 2015 nuclear deal between major powers and Iran.

A summary of the meeting between Wang and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian was posted on China’s foreign ministry website on Saturday.

Wang, who is also State Councillor, said the US bore primary responsibility for the ongoing difficulties with Iran, having unilaterally withdrawn from a 2015 nuclear deal between the major powers and Iran.

Under the terms of that deal, in return for the lifting of international sanctions, Iran would limit uranium enrichment activity, making it harder to develop nuclear arms – although Tehran denies having plans for nuclear weapons.

Synagogue Hostage Crisis: Israeli Rabbis Warning To US Jews, “Return To Israel Now”

On Saturday,  a gunman entered Congregation Beth Israel in the city of Colleyville, Texas as they were beginning their Shabbat prayer service via Zoom and Facebook at 11 AM. The gunman took four Jews (including the rabbi) hostage. One male hostage was released at 5 PM. After an 11-hour siege, police charged the site and freed all the hostages.

In Israel, several leading rabbis monitoring the event united in an emergency message to American Jews – ‘Come home to Israel.’

THE INCIDENT 

The live stream, being watched by more than 8,000 people, was taken offline at about 2 PM but during the video, the man was heard ranting angrily, occasionally talking about religion. The man repeatedly mentioned Islam and used profanities. He was heard asking for his “sister” to be released from prison. The man said several times that he didn’t want anyone to be hurt though he also said repeatedly he believed he was going to die. He also spoke about his children.

Police Responding To Apparent Hostage Situation At Synagogue In Texas

Law enforcement officials in Texas are negotiating with a man who has allegedly taken hostages during services at a synagogue in Colleyville, which is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

“The service was being livestreamed on Facebook, and the live recording has continued to capture muffled audio of what sounds like negotiations with police,” the Fort Worth Star Telegram reported. “The man has repeatedly mentioned his sister and Islam and used profanities. At one point, another voice can be heard apparently talking on the phone to police. The man has said a few times he didn’t want anyone hurt, and he has mentioned his children.”

The Colleyville Police Department posted updates on their Twitter account alerting the public to ongoing police activity, and instructing people to avoid the area.

“We are currently conducting SWAT operations around the 6100 block of Pleasant Run Rd. All residents in the immediate area are being evacuated. Please avoid the area,” the department wrote. “UPDATE 1/15/22, 1:20 PM The situation at the 6100 block of Pleasant Run Road posted about earlier remains ongoing. We ask that you continue to avoid the area. We will continue to provide updates via social media.”

Star Telegram reporter Jessika Harkay tweeted out remarks that the hostage taker allegedly made, which could be heard on the synagogue’s live stream posted on Facebook before the tech giant took down the video

Illinois district defends offering ‘After School Satan Club’ at elementary school

An Illinois school district is defending an elementary school offering “After School Satan Club,” an extracurricular educational program sponsored by the Satanic Temple of the United States.

The program, for children in grades first through fifth, will be taught by volunteers at The Jane Addams Elementary School in Moline, and will meet five times this year beginning Thursday, flyers circulating on social media claim.

An Illinois school district is defending an elementary school providing an "After School Satan Club,” an extracurricular educational program.

According to the flyer, the club will consist of science projects, puzzles, games, arts and crafts and outdoor nature activities. The club says it will help children learn benevolence and empathy, critical thinking, problem solving, creative expression and personal sovereignty.

The Satanic Temple – essentially an activist group and think tank more than a religious institution – said the program is available at select public schools where Good News programs exist, and is meant to be educationally enriching. Members have no intention of converting children to Satanism.

“Proselytization is not our goal, and we’re not interested in converting children to Satanism,” the temple says about the program on its website. “After School Satan Clubs will focus on free inquiry and rationalism, the scientific basis for which we know what we know about the world around us.

EU official ‘optimistic’ Iran nuclear deal

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said Friday he was optimistic about an Iran nuclear deal being struck within “the next few weeks”.

“The atmosphere has improved since Christmas,” he told reporters following an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in the French city of Brest, according to Politico. “I was pessimistic prior to that but now I think we can reach an agreement.”

“On the mountains of Israel you will fall, you and all your troops and the nations with you. I will give you as food to all kinds of carrion birds and to the wild animals.” Ez. 39:4

He added that “in the next few weeks, I hope I will be able to inform you of the final results” of a deal. “I hope that we will be able to ensure the agreement.”

Speaking alongside Borrell, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said it was “vital” that negotiations “succeed,” but he sounded less optimistic as he warned that the speed of negotiations was not sufficient.

D.C. Will Require ID for Indoor Public Places, but Voter IDs Are “Racist”

Everyone older than 18 will also need to present a valid photo ID along with their vaccination card, likely to prevent fraud and make sure one is not using someone else’s card.

News on the policy introduced by Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser comes as President Biden endorsed scrapping the Senate filibuster so that his party can force through legislation dubbed the “Freedom to Vote Act,” which would outlaw requirements “to submit any form of identifying document as a condition of obtaining or casting an absentee ballot” because voter ID is considered “racist.”

Requiring ID, however, does not seem to be racist when one tries to access a long list of indoor public places in the nation’s capital including food and drink establishments, cultural and entertainment establishments, exercise and recreational facilities, event and meeting establishments, and any other places as may be designated by the director of the D.C. Department of Health.

D.C. authorities prohibit businesses from accepting a negative COVID test to allow an unvaccinated person to enter an indoor venue unless that person “has a religious or medical exemption.” Unvaccinated individuals will have to provide “documentation of medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine” as well as a negative PCR or antigen test from within the previous 24 hours.

Real Wages Plummet as Inflation Hits the US Recovery

Assessment: No US citizen should be happy about plummeting real wages and stagnant labor participation in the middle of a strong recovery and the second-largest deficit on record …

The headline 3.9 percent unemployment rate looks positive, but job creation fell significantly below consensus, at 199,000 in December versus a consensus estimate of 450,000.

The weak jobs figure should be viewed in the context of the largest stimulus plan in recent history. With massive monetary and fiscal support and a government deficit of $2.77 trillion, the second highest on record, job creation falls significantly short of previous recoveries and the employment situation is significantly worse than it was in 2019.

The most alarming datapoint is that real wages are plummeting. Average hourly earnings have risen 4.7 percent in 2021, but inflation is 6.8 percent, sending real wages to negative territory and the worst reading since 2011.

The number of persons not in the labor force who currently want a job did not change in December, at 5.7 million. This is still 717,000 higher than in February 2020.

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for twenty-seven weeks or more) remains at 2 million in December, or 887,000 higher than in February 2020. Long-term unemployed accounted for 31.7 percent of unemployed, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
