Merck Charging US 40 Times What It Costs To Make Govt-Financed COVID Pill

Assessment:  Merck and Ridgeback will profit from the new antiviral – which they say “could be one of the most lucrative drugs ever,” bringing in as much as $7 billion by the end of this year alone.

Merck’s new ‘not Ivermectin’ Covid-19 treatment, molnupiravir, costs $17.74 to produce – yet the company is charging the US government $712 for the treatment – a 40x markup, according to The Intercept, citing a report issued last week by the Harvard School of Public Health and King’s College Hospital in London.

The pill, originally developed using US government funds as a possible treatment for Venezuelan equine encephalitis, cut the risk of hospitalization and death in half in a randomized trial of 775 adults with mild/moderate Covid who were considered at high risk for disease due to comorbidities such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease. The trial was stopped early so the company could apply for and emergency use authorization (EUA). The drug did not benefit patients who were already hospitalized with severe disease.

News of the oral ‘wonder drug’ sent shares of Merck higher last week, as the company says it can deliver 10MM doses by the end of the year.

Clearly, the pill could bring in massive profits to Merck and its partner on the drug, Ridgeback Biotherapeutics – which licensed the drug from Emory University in 2020 and then sold the worldwide rights to the drug to Merck for a sum which has not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, a division of the Department of Defense, funded development of the drug by Emory University to the tune of $10 million between 2013 and 2015, according to nonprofit group Knowledge Ecology International discovered.

Attorney general orders FBI to punish parents protesting radical-left agendas

Assessment: Joe Biden is trying hard to find terrorists among parents of school children, while his agenda turns perverse.

Only days ago the National School Board Association asked Joe Biden to use federal anti-terror laws against parents who are protesting – and fighting – the leftist agendas of their school boards, who want to install Critical Race Theory and other indoctrination in classrooms.

“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.” Luke 17:2

Now the administration has responded with orders from Attorney General Merrick Garland to the FBI to move against those parents.

Without citing any instance of criminal activity, he cited a “disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff.”

He credits them with “the vital work of running our nation’s public schools,” but doesn’t mention at all the disputes over the leftist agenda-driven instructions being adopted, including instances that, in one school, had students play act in roles of homosexuals and transgenders seeking sex from a classmate. Read More

Pope, other religious leaders issue pre-COP26 appeal on climate change

Assessment: Who, or what, is the eco-warrior Roman pontiff worshiping? 

Pope Francis and other religious leaders made a joint appeal on Monday for next month’s U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP26) to offer concrete solutions to save the planet from “an unprecedented ecological crisis”.

“who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Romans 1:25

The “Faith and Science: Towards COP26” meeting brought together Christian leaders including Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, as well as representatives of Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism and Jainism.

Crypto’s Future Could Soon Look A Lot Like The U.S. dollar

Assessment: “This has gone from, ‘It’s an interesting idea,’ a few years ago to, ‘We need to have a pilot project,’” said Josh Lipsky, director of the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center, of a Fed-issued digital dollar.

The dollar is entering the crypto age, and the U.S. government is poised to give its clearest signal yet on how that will happen.

The guidance will come through a trio of pending reports related to public and private efforts to digitize the world’s global reserve currency. First, the Federal Reserve Board will release a paper as soon as this month on the U.S. payments system that’s expected to provide direction on whether the country should issue a so-called central bank digital currency. Soon after, the Fed Bank of Boston will publish long-awaited research and open-source computer code on technology that could underpin a digital dollar. Finally, the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets is set to issue policy recommendations on how to regulate stablecoins, which are in effect digital dollars created by private companies.

When put together, the three reports will provide a road map for the broader financial community on how the Fed and Biden administration see the dollar’s crypto future playing out, the extent to which they embrace adoption of a digital currency and the guardrails they may see as necessary to protect individuals and investors in what’s now a largely unregulated corner of the market. What was once seen as a distant project has taken on an increased sense of urgency as the value of digital assets has exploded to about US$2 trillion and other countries, such as China, move forward rapidly with plans for their own sovereign digital currencies.

Community members and activists expressed anger and concern Monday to a Minnesota school board that reportedly has been using a sex ed program that asks straight students to role play gay and transgender relationships.

“This type of teaching has no place in our schools,” one speaker told the Richfield School Board, reported independent news outlet AlphaNews.

“For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.” Romans 1:26

Ukrainian Politicians Dominate List Of Elites Exposed In ‘Pandora Papers’

Assessment: The Pandora Papers reveal how unusual offshore finances and secretive wealth have infiltrated global politics.

A giant data dump is once more detailing the offshore tax activities of the worlds’ rich elites. Keeping with the alliterations, the release was dubbed the Pandora Papers by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which had also coordinated the release of previous prominent leaks the Paradise Papers and the Panama Papers.

The list of those implicated this time around includes Colombian singer Shakira, Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias and former German top model Claudia Schiffer.

As Statista’s Katharian Buchholz details below, a total of 336 former or current politicians are also tied to offshore money via the release.

The most common countries of origin for them were the Ukraine and Russia, but also many places in Latin America and Africa. The UK was the only other European nation in the top 10 of countries with the most politicians named in the release. Lapid pleads for coalition to stay united, as Netanyahu vows to topple it

Assessment: In his remarks to his Likud faction meeting, opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to bring down the government as soon as possible.

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid told a meeting of his Yesh Atid faction on Monday that the members of the government coalition must stay unified ahead of the deadline to pass the state budget.

Speaking on the first day of the Knesset’s winter session, Lapid said that coalition lawmakers must focus on the bigger picture.

“We have five weeks, during which we all have one goal and one goal only: to pass a budget,” said Lapid. “Without that, there will be no government. Without that, nobody will accomplish their dreams. Instead we’ll go back to the chaos and the poison that was here just a few months ago.”

If the much-delayed budget does not pass by the November 14 deadline, the Knesset will automatically dissolve and a new election — Israel’s fifth in three years — would be called. The budget passed its first reading in September, but must pass its second and third readings in the plenum to become law.

The Digital Revolution Eats Its Children

Assessment: For the past three years, Facebook has been conducting studies into how its photo-sharing app affects its millions of young users. Repeatedly, the company’s researchers found that Instagram is harmful for a sizable percentage of them, most notably teenage girls.

It can’t be a coincidence that Facebook’s empire of evil shut down (yesterday) the day before whistleblower Frances Haugen will testify before the consumer protection subcommittee of Senate Commerce. Seven hours after Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram disappeared into the cybersphere Gehenna, the system remained offline. Reuters reported late Monday that “sabotage by an insider would be theoretically possible,” and my Twitter feed is full of speculation about an inside job.

Its most egregious crime is the mass manipulation of pre-teens and teenagers through the self-image terrorism of Instagram. Ms. Haugen provided massive documentation to the media that Facebook knows in depth what damage it has done to the mental health of young women (as well as young men), as the Wall Street Journal reported:

The Journal’s series, based in part on the documents she gathered as well as interviews with current and former employees, describes how the company’s rules favor elites; how its algorithms foster discord; and how drug cartels and human traffickers use its services openly. An article about Instagram’s effects on teenage girls’ mental health was the impetus for a Senate subcommittee hearing last week in which lawmakers described the disclosures as a “bombshell.”

Brazen China Steadily Ramps Up Warplane Flights in Taiwan’s Airspace

Assessment: Beijing appears to believe now is the time to test America’s resolve in support of the island nation as it boasts of its military might. 

China flew an unprecedented 52 warplanes into Taiwanese airspace on Monday, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense reported, marking a troubling escalation as Beijing boasts of sending record numbers of attack aircraft at a time of heightened tensions.

China’s English language Global Times, considered a mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party, confirmed the deployment and that the Chinese military set new records for the scale of the aerial provocations on both Friday and Saturday over the Taiwan Straits. It said the deployments helped mark the country’s National Day on Oct. 1, the annual celebration of the party’s founding, but indicated they are also in response to a U.S.-led armada of allied ships that sailed through the contested Philippine Sea late last week.
